Kaoru

Kaoru is an extravagant, fun-loving, clowney and overall positive person. He has near boundless energy and charisma, and is a constant source for others to draw from. While he is quite silly, and is often regarded as a dunce, it is usually endearing and adds to his humour. Above all, Kaoru is hardworking, and puts his utmost into almost anything that he does (this rarely extends to academics). He enjoys being active, and likes many sports and exercising, often being the one to rally others to do the same. He is notorious for his silliness and unwavering support, but his closer friends know he’s more fragile and complex than he leads on to be.

Kaoru is currently enrolled in the UA Highschool Hero course, learning the skills he needs to become a professional Hero in the future.

Kaoru was born in Osaka, Japan, to Yua and Shirou Yuu. As a toddler, he was unconditionally kind and welcoming to those around him, and had his own individual quirks. When he was around 3 years old, he developed his starry complexion and his portal quirk, much to his mother's distaste. As he went through grade school and middle school, he slowly attracted tight-knit groups of friends using his natural charisma and kind charm. Though when it came to the time for others to oppose him and his companions, he didn't take well to it. He caused fights in order to defend himself and his friends, and this is where his early heroic traits began to show.

When it came to the end of middle-school, no one was surprised to see him apply for the UA Heroics Course. His peers saw him as the ideal hero, albeit a bit silly and hot headed at times. While he had the support of his friends, the feedback at home was quite the opposite. Yua made it clear that she didn't approve of his decision one bit, and would refuse to support him further if he ended up flunking. In the end, he had no support from home. Regardless, he almost aced the physical exam, and just managed to pass the written exam, landing him a place in the esteemed academy's course for Heroes.

Towards the end of his first year at UA, his home situation worsened enough that he was given organized counselling. He met a woman named Saibo, whose quirk allowed her to read into Kaoru's memories and uncover the abuse he had suffered for up until that point. After being taken to trial and convicted of child abuse and negligence, Kaoru's parents were promptly arrested and Kaoru was placed into the hands of the Nyström-Beaumont family for foster care. The Nyström-Beaumont's contacted Kaoru's nearest relative, Arata Tomomi, and discussed his custody. Arata and Kaoru decided that him staying in Japan was the best option so that he could continue his studies. During his time of foster care with the Nyström-Beaumonts, he had become very much attached to the family, so he had no objections when the prospect of adoption was brought to the table. Legally, he is known as Kaoru Nyström-Beaumont, but he is still proud to be called Kaoru Yuu.
