Description

Martin Boudreaux grew up in New Orleans and as such he was exposed to partying and some of the less than savory activities of the city from a young age. His family got by but were not known to be wealthy in the slightest, if anything they were on the lower side of middle-class. His father was a miner and the sole source of income for the household as his mother needed to stay home with himself and his three siblings. His parents had tried to protect him and keep him away from it but that just made him even more interested in the wild lifestyle his hometown was known for. As he grew he became more and more involved with partying. It only got worse when his older brother was killed in a mining accident. He fell hard into liquor and partying as the responsibilities his brother left behind fell onto him. He eventually found his way to gambling and he was rather good at it. It became a good source of income and he tried to help support his family with it despite their dislike for his habit.

Gambling quickly became an addiction and it got out of hand. He was no longer making more than he was spending. His parents eventually became fed up with it and gave him an ultimatum: quit or move out. So at 20 he left home and began introducing himself as Marty Graw. He stayed in town, gambling and partying for a while until he ran out of money. He’d heard talks of the Research Labs off the west coast that offered substantial amounts of money for test subjects. His addiction was beyond help by this point so he headed out and sold himself for testing for a large chunk of money to support his gambling. He doesn’t remember much of the testing and he suspects that was intentional. All he knew was he came out with new abilities and an altered body; a raccoon tail and mask.

He fell back into gambling with his new found fortune. Which he blew much faster than he’d expected and once again found himself in a less than ideal position. So he turned to Trigger, a kobold friend he’d made in his travels who he knew had ties to the mafia. He borrowed money from him and gambled with it to earn enough back and pay him back. He kept up the deal for a while until he became more and more greedy and eventually skipped town with the money. But of course Marty has a cycle he can’t break and has once again found himself low on currency and desperate to make money. He found himself in the gambling capital of the world and a familiar kobold breathing down his neck.
