Malty (Code Name Chaser) is an ex-operative working as a whistle-blower/scout and spy and is a lower ranked member of the Black Organization. Recruited at 6 when her real parents were murdered for a bad run-in with the higher-ups, Catnip saw potential in her, taking her in and training her to become a designated Chaser who specializes in covert operations and spying. Though she has never murdered anyone in cold blood, a lot of her missions involved getting someone killed or ratted out. This is mostly thanks to the guidance of Vermouth, whom she was assigned as an apprentice to. Originally, she has maintained and aloof and distant persona, making sure she is not attached to anyone she may incriminate or for the organization to use against her. On her 8th birthday, she is assigned to work well and assist an experimental new member with the code name 'Cola'. Malty realizes later on why the organization valued Cola (or Yuka, in her head personally) as the girl has been treated as a human database and secret holder. She is as dangerous to the organization as to everyone else: her perfect and flawless photographic memory and accelerated brain power ensured that nothing escapes her notice, better than a camera or any technology to use as evidence.
As the years go by, Yuka has completely melted Malty's walls, as the older of the two (by a month) began treating the other with familial love and affection. There is nothing in the world capable of stopping Malty to do anything for Yuka--including faking her death in order to escape the organization's clutches.
A a year or so before Kudo Shinichi disappears and Miyano Shiho dies, Malty prepares via giving Yuka various medium and media to study. All of them involve fake death scenes and methods in escape tactics. Some of them even involve Kaitou KID's various ways. When the designated time and opportunity presents itself, they execute the plan and 'kill off' Chaser's long-time partner and sister. 'Enraged', they send her off to London for a bit to cool down and bask in their success. Though everything went relatively well, the two of them miss their homeland, and now they're suck in a pinch as they can't simply go back without an excuse. Luckily, an excuse does appear in the very nosy form of one Hakuba Saguru.
Nearly stumbling into a BO operation, Catnip assigns her to trail Hakuba and report what he knows or is doing. Malty agrees, introducing herself (and attaching herself) to Hakuba, who is visibly annoyed by her antics. She finds out later that while Hakuba has the tendency to be blunt and narrow-minded, he is a good man (albeit one that gets himself into deep trouble) and soon, he is to head back to Japan to continue his studies. Malty uses that excuse to trail after Hakuba, bringing along Yuka back into their own homeland.
Once back, she hastily enrolls Yuka into Ekoda High while she herself goes to Teitan, just to avoid any prying eyes from the organization. Malty soon stumbles upon one Edogawa Conan and in the process, Haibara Ai. After a tense confrontation, Malty also introduces Yuka to them as a sign of trust (and a contingency plan in case everything goes to shit) and after a few more discussions, they decided on making profiles for the two girls' current personas and adding them in as sort of family relatives as the excuse they say to Ran.
Not specified when but at one point, she actually grows really really fond of Hakuba, to the point wherein her blushes and heart thumps when he does something is far beyond her acting. One night, she tells him her real name.
Personality and Quirks:
Malty acts as a childish diva, often expressing her like and dislike for something (or someone) without warning or pretense. She is very affectionate and fond of her sister, often going out of her way to walk her to class and take her home (much to Yuka's chagrin). Aside from that, she is also 'very much infatuated' with Hakuba, often clinging to his arm or calling out his name whenever she sees him. She has even skipped using his last name and directly calls him 'Saguru' which embarrasses him greatly.
Though she can come off as insensitive, Yuka has said that it was mostly a facade to determine people's boundaries and reactions. This is why Malty is somewhat still hesitant towards Kuroba, as she cannot make heads or tails with his own expressions. Later on, when Yuka has expressed to her that he is KID, she someone cools off, as part of the organization has had her work with Snake and Spider before, therefore knowing exactly what his goal is. Her sudden change in attitude towards him creeped him out at first, but Hakuba's mirth and Yuka's insistence soon calmed the parties down.
Towards someone like Shinichi/Conan, she absolutely loves to tease him and the like (often bringing him kiddie meals or coloring books) but despite that, she still respects him and sees him as an equal (and occasionally brings him random puzzles and books, sometimes in apology or just when she feels like it)
She turns rather cold and aloof when she deals with anything involving the BO, even towards someone like Vermouth. She reasons that if anyone saw a glimpse of her beyond her supposed 'anger' from Cola 'dying', they might start to get suspicious and find out about her sister's escape.
