D'Arcy is the secondary main character in my story "A Strange(r) Next Door." He is the love interest to the main character, and lives next door to them. In the story, he goes through trying to befriend the main character but in a subtle way, always seeming to appear out of nowhere. He is a big fan of the edgy vampire trope, and often conforms to it with his clothing and appearance. His hair covers half of his face, and he often wears black clothing whether it's modern or victorian.
He has a decent relationship with his parents but has little friends at school. He is friends with a goth girl named Alice, and later in the story friends with the main character. After a while of getting to know each other, both D'Arcy and the main character learn they have crushes on each other.

D'Arcy tries to act regal and respectable, like a victorian vampire. However, he is more eccentric and is a bit of a dork on the inside. If you get to know him you can tell that he just wants the best for the people he cares about and wishes for things to be good for those around him.

D'Arcy was a generally unproblematic child. He would get along nicely with others, although he was a bit shy. He had a bit of trouble making friends, but did eventually end up with 2 good ones. During his childhood he would often be visited by his grandparents, them trying to influence him in their older ways, hoping so greatly that he would be a vampire. Sometimes, when a child is decended by one or more parents of bitten transformation rather than a vampire lineage they can turn out like a normal human.
By age 10 D'Arcy began to teeth again like a normal vampire and his family was delighted. They were ready to raise him as one and give him tips and pointers on how to drink from people and animals, how and where to obtain blood bags, and other things of the like. He had yet to feed and he experienced great pain with his fangs growing in. They gave him secret teething toys to use in private and away from others, of which he still owns.

A few days before his 13th birthday D'Arcy fed from his first person. Previously he had only been feeding on animals of which his family hunted or he found in the woods behind his house. The unfortunate thing was that the first person he fed from was one of his best friends from childhood, Aaron. He attacked him in the woods behind the school and lost control, savagely biting his neck and consuming his blood, drinking as much as he could. Afterwards he cried as he looked at what he had done, and ran all the way back to his house being careful as to not encounter anybody. He rushed inside and immediately told his parents, of which they were concerned.
His mother reassured him that it was normal for that to happen, that it was his first feeding and it was due soon. They had originally planned to have some human blood on his 13th birthday, but it seemed that it would be too long for him to wait. He was traumatized by killing one of his best friends, it becoming an unsolved murder case. He lives with this guilt and tries his best to rely on animal blood and human blood bags.
