Background
In their day to day life, Shoal enjoys carving pearls into skulls for accessories! They've sharpened the skill since childhood, and have grown popular among a variety of aquatic friends because of it.
Godly Pearl
Word of their skill reached across seas, bringing in new clientele. One of which was the godly son of the fresh water and salt sea gods, Tâmtu. He commissioned Shoal to carve a skull for his mother out of a beautiful lustrous pearl he brought himself. Now a satisfied customer, Tâmtu entrusted another pearl to Shoal, but this one was meant for guarding rather than carving. The pearl was one of two that encased the embryos of progenitors/"Gods" of another world, and Tâmtu was tasked by his parents to keep the two somewhere safe. He had relocated one to another world only he knew of, and wanted to give the other to Shoal to take the weight of his shoulders. He helped Shoal find the perfect secure spot for the pearl, and afterwards Shoal was blessed with it's power. The young god was grateful to the merperson, and promised to stay in touch.
Mumu
One day, while harvesting pearls, Shoal stumbled upon a Venus Comb who's shell was breaking. So out of compassion they used the power of their Progenitor Pearl to restore and strengthen the shell, but due to being able to fully control it's power, the snail and its shell became enchanted and grew into a giant size. The snail grew fond of them and wished to stay by their side, so they decided to name the new companion Mumu!
