Additional information: Gulshan was a solitary hyena like many of his kind until he met Maliah, a lone female hyena who wanted to form a clan. After living with her for a while, he decided to follow her and consider her his matriarch. 

His feelings for her made him grow jealous of his male clanmates (Agni and Nirav) when they joined. He didn't want to lose his chance of becoming her mate and hates when they get attention from the matriarch. This made him be hostile towards them and Maliah has scolded him about it a few times.

Still, he's loyal and protective towards his dear matriarch. He feels very happy when she compliments him about a hunt.
