Profile
Damian is an odd, quiet man who always seems to be on the move, looking for another artifact to destroy or a person to defend from something or someone. He's blunt and to the point, with little room for conversations that may allow someone to get to know him. He can be petty and rude, with a morbid and strange sense of humor.
He shows up in statements from time to time, oftentimes towards the end in which he takes an object from the person and destroys it soon after, offering a few words before disappearing. In fact, that seems to be his main goal: to destroy as many artifacts as possible, to keep them out of the hands of both poor innocents and those who may use them against others. it's something he's become very passionate about, quick to anger at the idea of letting these things exist where they can be a possible threat to others.
Lately he has become more present around those working in the archives, occasionaly showing up to bother them and see if he can take something he considers too dangerous to be left in a vault somewhere. He absolutely refuses to become an assistant, saying that he might as well just burn himself alive and get the same result.

Damian is considered distant and a bit odd by those who know him, with most only knowing of him because of his penchant for hunting down and destroying artifacts. He's serious and quiet, hardly ever speaking unless necessary, although it seems hes a bit more talkative when he uses BSL. Despite this, he does care for others, often putting himself in harms way in order to protect someone else from an artifact. But just as fast as he does so, he's often gone again.
Damian cares a lot about others, despite his distance. He tries to keep others at arms length, hesitant to allow anyone to be too close. Maybe it is self destructive, but he cannot help but worry that something may happen to them, if they know him too much. In a way, he almost considers himself to be just like the artifacts he destroys, something dangerous that brings awful ends to anyone whom he loves or cares about. He also tends to give first impressions greater weight than they need, being quick to judge someone as untrustworthy and incredibly slow to come around to the oppsite.
Early Life
Damian was born to two loving parents in a small town not too far from Seattle, Washington. They adored him, and even though they didn't understand everything about him, they still encouraged him to express himself in a way that made him happiest. He soon had a sister too, just three and a half years younger than him and just as energetic and loud as he. He wasn't the top of his class or excelled in anything particularly academic, but thrived in the various sports and activities his parents would put him in to keep him occupied.
It is a sad thing, when a life full of love and joy goes up in flames. Damian didn't understand then why this had happened to him, or to his family for that matter. But one night, while others slept, a few people- at least he thought they were people- broke into his home. Damian had the luck of being the last room in the hall, giving him enough time to hide under his bed and avoid seeing what newspapers called a monstrous and horrific end to his poor parents and sister. His desperation to see them okay, however, led him straight to the aftermath. It was a miracle that he survived that night, considering he had hit one of the intruders in the head with his little baseball bat and recieved quite the scar in return, permanently half blinding him in one eye and, oddly enough, leaving a hand shaped burn on his shoulder. The house would soon go up in flames after this, with Damian only surviving because despite the pain he pulled himself out of the front door and away from the flames.
Adolescence
It is difficult, if not impossible, to stay the person you once were after something like that. Between the lengthy hospital stay, police questions, and physical and emotional therapy, the bright little boy Damian once was had been snuffed out, leaving a quiet, angry kid in its stead. He moved in with his grandmother in a little house, and while she loved him and tried her best, Damian knew that she was mourning who he once was just as much as she was mourning her dead daughter and family. He couldn't blame her, not really. He had no friends, and was often in trouble with the school as he fought back rather violently to the kids who tried to bully him. He threw himself harder into the few things he enjoyed, spending many a day out in the woods hitting baseballs and learning basic survival skills. But mostly, his time was spent trying to understand, find, and perhaps even get revenge on the strange people that had ruined his life.
He became very attached to his grandmother, and when he wasnt outside he was by her side, helping her with cleaning the house or cooking or anything that she needed. In a way, he was terrified of letting her out of his sight, convinced he would come home to a burnt shell of a house with her left inside. He felt almost like what had happened was his fault, and that he by some cruel twist of fate was the one that survived rather than the others.
Adulthood
As he got older, he began to notice that there were things, or rather physical objects, that seemed to bring some sort of odd and horrifying powers into the world. Objects were easier to find than people, and soon Damian found himself looking for them in between school and home, intent on destroying them before they could ruin someone's life or turn them into the kind of person who had ruined his life. It was a bit of an obsession, really. But it got him out of the house, and he felt like he finally had a purpose once again. Eventually his grandmother passed, a day he dreaded but knew would come eventually. With no one left in his life alive, he decided to go where his research led him, which, oddly, enough, landed him in London.
He spent a bit of his time doing odd jobs, giving him just enough to keep a small, albiet run down flat and allow him enough time to continue is mission of finding and destroying what he would soon learn to call artifacts. There were others who knew much more than him, and he took what he could from them in order to understand the things he was so keen on destroying. He began to fall into a pattern of helping people and leaving them just as fast as he had come into their lives, burning his candle at both ends to see to the destruction of as many artifacts as possible whilst trying to ensure that nobody could get close enough to get hurt by him.
ENTITY: THE DESOLATION
POWER?
Damian does not like being so close to the Desolation, although his self destructive tendancies and penchant for destroying artifacts without even bothering to learn about them pulls him closer than he could ever know.
Friends
Julien is also an artifact hunter, and the two often bump into each other in the pursuit of them. He's petty and kind of a dick, but yet at the same time looks out for Damian in a way he had only done for others. They bicker and have what Damian would consider a rivalry of sorts.
Deep down, he realizes that theres something forming for the man, and it scares him.
He's worried that his fondness for Julien will put the man in danger, especially with the Desolation looking over his shoulder. He wants to push him away, but can't help but hope to see Julien every time he goes exploring for another artifact.
Senia is a sweetheart, and honestly intimidates Damian just a little. He doesn't quite understand what she sees in him, but she's always kind to him and goes out of her way to do what she can. He'd be lying if he didn't get a little crush. But that is more of a reason to keep her from getting too close.
He hopes she is going to be okay in the archives.
It's hard to admit that she is one of the only people he hopes won't give up on him, even when he pushes her away or lies about how well he is doing. She makes him feel less lonely in the world.

"tian"
Michael is something Damian is hesitant to call a friend. They're almost impossible to describe. Friendly, dangerous, all too willing to leave him guessing. They appear when he expects it least, and leaves him with more questions than answers. And yet... he can't help but feel an odd fondness for them, despite it all.
One day, maybe, he can figure out what they want from him.
"They... I don't know. Their laugh echoes in my head and I feel like I see them sometimes. I just want to know what they consider me."
Acquaintances
Jack seems to know nothing despite his role of Archivist, sulking and always seeming to be in a sour mood. Damian has little respect for him, as he considers the man cowardly for making his assistants do the scary part of the job while he stays cooped up in his office. He actually quite enjoys pissing Jack off because of it, and in turn Jack seems obsessed with getting a statement from Damian.
He has to admit though that Jack is trying, despite it all.
In some ways, Damian even feels bad for Jack. He didn't choose to become archivist, and despite his flaws and annoying habit of wanting to know things about Damian, he is trying his best with the cards dealt to him.

Enemies
Diana always seems to appear when Damian pushes someone away or lashes out, trying to goad him into allowing his grief and anger define him, and to let the Desolation take him. He tries to avoid her as much as he can, but she often comes with an artifact to destroy, thrusting him into a constant cycle of avoiding her, then coming back when he becomes desperate.
She terrifies him in a way he hadn't thought possible.
He hates how easily she can get into his head, manipulating him towards taking more and more drastic measures for revenge for his family while simultaniously trying to get him to attack her. Sometimes she's his friend, giving him information and artifacts and other times she's his enemy, gleefully telling him how close he is to ending up just like her and not so subtly threatening those he cares about.

A childhood stuffed bear that had miraculously survived the housefire. It is small, but something Damian keeps with him at nearly all times. It keeps him company when he feels at his most alone, and is meticiously taken care of and protected by him. It's eye had been broken and was then replaced by his grandmother.
