1/25/17. The Gate's egg was found in a rocky patch on the coast of Jari by a Harpy. She'd landed on a ship headed that way with the intention to use it as a spot to fish from. As the boat neared the isle, it was suddenly forced to shipwreck. Still on her mission for food, she flew a ways away from the wreckage and started to scavenge. Several days of the same went by until she stumbled upon the egg, half buried in seaweed, sand, and pebbles. Frazzled by the aura of the isle, she came to think this was one of her own eggs back home. Baffled as to how it got here, she quickly adopted it. Back at the boat, the crew was hard at work trying to fight Jari's effects and repair their vessel. By the time she flew back with her new egg, they had given up hope and were praying to any deity they could think of to help them. That night, the sea lit with an unnatural light, pulling up pieces of wreckage and magically healing the ship. Not wasting another second, everyone boarded and began the return trip to Yona. As soon as she was able, the Harpy flew away from the waters and back towards her nest. On her way, though, her head began to fully clear. She realized she was holding an unfamiliar egg with an almost aggressive presence radiating from it. Alarmed, she dropped it. From there, the egg was found again and made its way into the black market. The new owner was fully aware that it had come from Jari and intended to make a fortune off simply that, but, to save more money, they also labeled it as scanned without actually going through the trouble of doing so. They deemed it a Naga egg and put it up for sale in Yona's shady side. Dieter came across it on one of his child collecting sprees and bought it. He hardly was able to get away from the place before it began to hatch, awoken by his presence. Needless to say, he didn't expect the scaled head of a dragon to burst from the shell.

---The Gate's relatively small for a dragon, standing only four and a half feet tall (with arms bent). One person can fit on their back comfortably. They appear very sleek and can fly roughly 130 mph. They do not have a natural breath weapon, but they are able to hiss in a very loud and crocodile-like manner. If they swallow an element (ie, fire, water, ice), they will be able to temporarily use it as a breath weapon. Their main feature, though, is the purple orb of light that typically hangs below their throat. This is a portal to the Gate's dimension, which is where it earned its name. To enter, one simply has to will themselves there while within a reasonable radius of the dragon. Inside is an endless plane of bookshelves, reading nooks, and stairs - a never-ending library. It twists and turns all over the place and might be a horrible maze if those inside the realm couldn't teleport back to main locations, but they can. So, basically, it's just beautiful and perfect in there. It's overall somewhat dim, but it's pretty easy to find a lamp when needed. The ceiling always seems to be the same distance away no matter how high up you are. The dragon can be spoken to in the dimension as well as alter the way things are. Because of this, some people are able to live inside the safe haven, the Gate having made them homes from the shelves. Only Dieter's family is able to enter the realm due to the creature having connected itself to his bloodline when it hatched. If the dragon deems another person worthy, exceptions can be made to let others enter, but this is very rare and unlikely.

---The Gate does not come into play until Cody's children (and everybody else lined up with them) are young adults, finding partners, having families, making their own lives, etc.

---May or may not fall in love with a gecko later
