When he ignites his flames he tends to do so on the outer feathers, furthest away from his back/body. The feathers closest to him he rarely ignites (to avoid getting burnt), He tends to wear fire-resistant gloves.

Personality 
If Hato were to be described in one phrase it would be 'a good boy'. 
In general he is well-behaved but who he is around it can influence his mood (for better or for worse).

Deep down he is pretty shy. He is an ambivert (leaning toward introvert) but he always keeps the appearance of a perky, likable, outgoing person. It’s only when he gets close with someone that he will mellow out some. (He’s like Hawks in a lot of ways … he can put on a front … but unlike Hawks it’s genuine and not for any underlying purpose.) 
Hato is the type of person that looks and acts like a model student but has a secret mischievous/naughty side. 
His first impresssion to others he learns from Hawks and the mischievous side he gets from both … but especially Dabi.
(In highschool he could have been the popular kid/student or that smart, rich kid that hung out with troublemakers … or a combination of both.)

For the most part he has good self control unless he is suddenly put into an uncomfortable situation … then he might act irrationally.
He values truth and wants to be seen as a honest person.

Hato has a very developed emotional intelligence to be able to read either of his Dads, who regularly obfuscate and are very good liars (not that they would lie with any regularity to Hato, they both would err more on the side of “don’t tell him certain stuff till he’s X years old”), he’d have to be good at reading people. Both Dabi and Hawks lie as a matter of survival, and they would never want that for Hato.

In terms of personality types he fits ENFP in many ways, but not completely.

• He is constantly aware and somewhat fearful of losing touch with himself.

Family
In general, when interacting with his siblings Hato takes on an elder brother kind of role. He'll joke, mess around, and console them. He can tell when a sibling is feeling downer than usually. 

However despite this he tends to be the subject of a lot of teasing and pranks. He exercises that good self control of his and doesn't let the sibling abuse bother him much. When it does and they get on his nerves he can be very stern. He rarely ever gets irritated or angry enough to snap, but when he does his siblings know they fucked up. 

Hato's relationship with his parents is complicated but in general was alright.
He grows up the majority of his childhood with Hawks, but Dabi comes as often as he can from league stuff and is far from an absent father.

Around the age of 22-23 Hato gets a tattoo on his back, in between his wings, as a tribute to his fathers.

The red hawk symbolizes (you guessed it) Hawks and the arrow it grasps is a reference to Dabi's possible true name, Touya (燈矢). The 矢 or 'ya' part means arrow. The blue flames surrounding the hawk are also another symbol of Dabi. This entire tattoo is simply dabihawks symbolized, which in essence is who Hato is.

Kyouka
Hato's childhood best friend who he has known since 8-9 years old. She has a very abrasive and brash personality that meshes well with Hato's more calm demeanor. Her and Hato tell each other almost everything and know that it will stay a secret between the two of them. She knows about his night time activities as a vigilante, something only a select few know about. 

Kyouka is like Hato's siblings in that she teases him a lot. She knows how to mess with her best bud and get him flustered or confused. Her type of teasing doesn't really annoy Hato, unlike his siblings. 
She calls Hato 'pigeon' to poke fun at him but also as a term of endearment. She never really calls him 'dove' like his family does.

When they are around 20-21 years old the two decide to take their relationship past the threshold of friends and start dating each other. It was mostly out of curiosity at first. They stay together for 9-10 months when they come to the conclusion that they are better for each other as friends, and split in mutual agreement. For a few months after breaking up their relationship is a tad strange but they eventually leave that behind them and fall back into their old ways as friends. 
They continue to be such and stay lifelong friends.

Mirai
Hato's first niece. She's the daughter of Riku and his partner Meiro. Her entire birth/hatching was filled worry and uncertainty so when Hato arrives to meet her for the first time, after she's hatched, he preoccupied. However once lays his eyes on his baby niece for the first time he is smitten. She awakens some paternal/brotherly instinct he didn't even know he had. Due to some complications around Mirai's birth/hatching Hato ends up being the one to care for her the first month after she hatches. This is no issue or problem for him and he does so happily. After that he's always there to babysit or help Riku out if needed. Hato pretty much becomes Mirai's favorite Uncle. 

Career Choice
Ever since Hato was old enough to understand the concept of heroes he's want to become one. His father also being the #2 hero of Japan had a huge influence on him. As a young child he thought that because he had wings and a quirk similar to Hawks that he should become a hero. Those dreams were ultimately crushed when Hato finds out Dabi is a high ranking super villain, how could he be a hero when his other father is such a horrible villain?
However when Hato reconciles his resentment for his villain father his drive to become a hero blossoms back in full force. 
His goal is to change the system that created his fathers and caused them to clash and ultimately hurt each other.
Hato does not attend UA for his hero course studies, instead he attends another, lesser known high school (he does not tell Hawks or Dabi about the course because neither wish for him to become a hero).
He makes it through less than a year of his studies when he realizes that the system he hoped to change is too big and corrupt for him to do alone. He could never do what needs to be done as a hero because of the legality and limitations of the occupation. So Hato drops himself from the high school's hero course and becomes a vigilante. He enrolls in a few hero classes so he can keep up his skills and learn about the system he hopes to change. 

Vigilante Name: Archangel (大天使)

Despite how drawings portray him Hato rarely ever has his wings out fully feathered, since they are a big indication as to who he is (him and his siblings are all known to the public).
He sheds all his feathers off and keeps the smaller ones in a bag or backpack with him. He tends to keep two large primary feathers with him if swords are needed while the rest are hidden in the area he is patrolling.

Though in the beginning he never really tells his fathers about his career choice when they do find out Hawks and Dabi are both relieved. Part of the reason they feel that way is because Hato becomes neither a hero or a villain. But the main reason is because their son grew up how they had hoped ... he grew up in an environment that did not dictate his future ... which allowed him to make his own decisions as to what he would become and do with his life.
Hero society did not create him like it did his fathers.

- He has a pet snake 🐍 an albino burmese python named Bougainvillea
- His guilty pleasure is Kpop, he loves it (so much so that he knows a lot of groups, their band members, and even some dances) but is too embarrassed and hasn't told anyone about it
- If he played Among Us he'd be a great crewmate and detective but a horrible imposter
- Hato has never killed anyone (this doesn't mean he can't but he personally chooses not to go that route)
- He has the ability, like Hawks, to lay eggs but he never plans to use it. The concept of having a kid that way really freaks him out and would give him mad dysphoria.
