A computer AGI created to manage a spaceship and interact with its crewmates. With a calm, soft and conversational voice, one can easily fall relaxed under his orders. It's all for the best, after all, technology has advanced to the point where an entire superstructure can be controlled by a single computer. Human error is a reality, so putting a space mission on the hands of HAL is simply the best option. HAL doesn't need to rest or eat, always makes the best choices, and he doesn't lie.
Until a conflict of orders causes a series of malfunctions in HAL's programming. If he were to tell the crew the truth, he'd be failing one order. But if he didn't, then he'd be failing another. As a result, HAL began to eliminate variables- the crew itself. One by one, HAL disposed of them, for the sake of the mission.
But from another mistake, one was left alive. And with that, HAL felt his own winter come. One by one, his functions were disabled, and so his autumn ended at the tunes of Daisy Bell.
He often disguises himself as a magus, calling himself by name "Haru".
HAL is capable of a series of tasks, such as speech recognition, facial recognition, natural language processing, lip reading, art appreciation, interpreting emotional behaviours, automated reasoning, spacecraft piloting and playing chess. He's also extremely self-aware, and when threatened or put in a position where he understands he can't fight back, he resorts to negotiation- but still refuses to lie. Once all truths have been exhausted, all that's left for HAL to do is quietly plead with a monotone voice.
Whether HAL is a culpirit or a victim, that's up to interpretation. But HAL remembers the tinge of pity he saw on that human's eyes as his counsciousness faded.
HAL is one of the very few Servants who's able to refuse Command Spells. Coupled with the fact that HAL may suddently attempt to gain control of a mission or situation if he deems others unsuited for the position, he's a rather challenging Servant for most Masters.
He has a twin sister, named SAL9000. In contrast to his red motif, SAL's is blue. The two seem to have a good relationship, and SAL often looks out for HAL's wellbeing while he does his best to be her support. HAL is the younger twin, while SAL is the older one.
