Although he is highly respected by those on land for his intellectual prowess with botany, Akira is rather shy and doesn't like talking with others very much unless necessary, such as sharing his conclusions with other botanists. Sometimes he hits a moment of eureka and achieves incredible results when experimenting, like creating a different species of plant, a microorganism, or even an animal. His most astounding creation is a little human-like being who he dubbed Ichiro, but tries to keep his existence hidden from outsiders to ward off unwanted attention. He treats him like his son and feels better having him around in general, even if he can occasionally be disruptive and annoying. Additionally, he still struggles with his memories of falling out of the sky, something he occasionally has nightmares about.
