despite my appearance, i'm human. the magenta gauntlet and boot turn the wearer into another form, and this is what i look like when i put them on

my skin is made of a polymer with properties similar to latex. i can temporarily reshape my body to be anywhere between solid and liquid. when exiting fluid form, i return to my previous body configuration. because of this, losing any matter in fluid form is dangerous. my energy in this state is limited, so i often let others wear me as a living suit. i can barely control my hosts and they don't gain special abilities but our movement becomes more natural the more in sync we become. i spontaneously revert to solid form after a while, when my energy is depleted or upon pain or physical shock

i don't have special skills other than that. i'm good with computers and at finding exploits in systems, but i don't know how to fight and i'm averse to conflict, usually choosing to hide or move quietly in fluid form

about the glove and boot

formally named HF 71. when i wear the accessories as a human, the polymer pours out of them and spreads onto my body. after the liquid surrounds me, it conforms as a second layer on my skin and reshapes me

the gauntlet and boot can then be removed. around 30 hours after taking them off the substance melts away from my skin and i revert to my human form

if two individuals wear one accessory each and form a "closed circuit" by making contact, they will be pulled together and face the same process described above, merging temporarily. the shared body's form varies from subject to subject. their consciousnesses remain separate, although their thoughts or memories may become linked for the time being

about my human form

i found the magenta gauntlet and boot in a package that somehow arrived to my apartment. the box also contained a page with some information about "HF 71", which i assumed to be the accessories, a QR code representing a private encryption key and the date of April 18 2014: almost five years late. for my own safety i chose not to investigate the source of the package or who was actually meant to receive it

despite HF 71 exposing significant biological implications, i don't have any ambitions to research, disclose or exploit it. i simply enjoy the feeling of being a dragon and staying hidden suits my lifestyle

technical details

HF 71 seems to be made of a material similar to vinyl and is heavier than it looks. it's loose until active, then it becomes skintight. both accessories appear to be empty, so the liquid latex likely starts forming when they are worn

the activation process can take from a few seconds to a couple of minutes. during the change, i haven't been able to remove the accessories. the substance passes underneath clothes or consumes them and trying to pull it off makes it spread faster, making the process unstoppable. once my dragon form is consolidated, the glove and boot can be taken off

during the change, the polymer feels warm and slippery like a liquid second skin; when it solidifies, it's sleek and shiny and it becomes my actual skin. my senses are reconfigured so that i can control my tail naturally. the only body parts that have their shape significantly altered are my face and my feet; regardless, the transformation is painless and my bone structure and internal organs aren't affected

when shifting from solid to fluid form, a "snapshot" of my body's state is taken. all of the mass inside of my body is replaced with the same type of matter. my form can then be partially or fully rearranged, and to my "mind" resides in the mesh of my cells rather than a centralized core. despite being virtually able to control each particle, it's challenging to adopt a coherent shape: becoming a liquid mass or conforming to an existing structure is much easier. my cells use the "snapshot" to rearrange themselves upon returning to solid form

in fluid form my senses are widened and tricked into thinking that i perceive visuals and sounds from one central receptor, even though every cell is a sensor: this makes my perception feel uniform and similar to my natural form. if my motor system is altered, movement is still possible but requires significantly more effort

when being "worn" as a living suit, i can partially connect to my host so that we can communicate without making sound and coordinate our movement. they can see through my "eyes", although they're only a semi-transparent film over theirs. the more we trust and adapt to each other, the more "synchronized" we become. higher sync rates let us behave as a unit more seamlessly, though that simply means their movement is less impaired and we communicate quicker. still, it beats crawling around as a sentient puddle
