Born on the homeworld of Cait, firstborn to the head of a prosperous clan, K'lizh grew up torn between loyalty for his family and a yearning for the stars. That sense of duty ultimately turned into resentment as he got older, until he finally confronted his parents, aunts and uncles about it. To his surprise, they accepted his wanderlust, and he joined Starfleet with their blessing.
His commitment and cleverness quickly dre him up the ranks to Lieutenant Commander of a Galaxy-class starship, his childhood dream. With an academic temperament but also a shy streak, K'lizh has a hard time connecting to others. Empathy is not his strongest trait, though he has a talent for languages and minored in xenolinguistics in the Academy. He is a textbook introvert, but his culture's prioritization of loyalty means that when he does find a friend, he is true blue and fiercely protective. He has been attempting to learn the Vulcan lyre.
During a mission where his crewmates were abducted and hunted for sport, K'lizh witnessed the murder of a close friend before his eyes and was so consumed with wrath that he went into a berserker rage, tearing his abductors apart with his claws and his fangs with wild bloodlust. Even after beaming back on board his ship, as the ranking officer he ordered an orbital bombardment on the planet's power installations to keep their abductors busy while the ship worked overtime to beam up the rest of the crew. Discarding the veneer of civilization a in such a manner is a deeply shameful act in his culture, and K'lizh struggles to balance on a razor's edge and not succumb to feral rage once again as he struggles with the trauma of what he did.
