Lord Cethin Dionisia

Human (?) . 27 (?) . he/him . Alive(?)

"'Will you walk into my parlour?' said the spider to the fly."

Dionisia is a young lord living alone in a manor deep in the woods, far from any town. Not much is known about him--his family, friends, relations, etc. All unknown. He doesn't show himself around town either, which only adds to the air of mystery surrounding this lonely bachelor. What is known is that once a month, elaborate carriages of nobles that have travelled from all over can be seen heading up the old road to his manor, lit up for a seemingly important occasion. No one knows how to receive an invite, nor what happens at these events. Maybe it's best left unknown...

Background

Dionisia was born into a noble family, and like many others in his position, was brought up learning the average lessons a member of nobility would need, on top of their family's traditional practices. Dionisia's family was somewhat unique, in that their family had a long history of practicing magic. Not your making objects float, or setting things on fire type of magic. But something more passive--an ability to see things the average person could not, to...speak to things the average person could not. Dionisia proved to possess the same skills as his ancestors before him, and thus started his education in these arts right away.

He spent little time with his family as he got older, preferring to be holed away in his room studying. His parents admired his dedication to the craft, but if they had spent more time with him, perhaps they would have noticed signs that their son was developing more concerning ideals. Little did his parents know, Cethin's once respectable and traditional delve into the art of magic started to become...corrupted. Bored with the skills he was taught, Cethin began to start reading books and tomes of what he considered to be the more interesting aspects of magic. Spells, rituals, and ceremonies that would allow him to live out his repressed fantasies--ones that would allow him to live the type of life he wanted to live. Simply reading and studying turned to testing, then experimentation, then experimentation on those who he could find around the manor--animals and people alike. His family tried multiple times to intervene, even going so far as to call in priests and other experts in an attempt to snap their son out of whatever dark spell he seems to have gotten himself in. Everything proved futile, however. His family was forced to abandon the manor, leaving him to begin to shape it in his own design.

One of Dionisia's obsessions was with the concept of immortality--specifically, eternal youth. He loved his own reflection possibly more than other people, and was more than interested in being able to keep his appearance forever. The added bonus of having an extended lifespan to engage in as much debauchery as he pleases was definitely appealing too. He sought out a mentor who could guide him in learning darker magic, with the hopes of eventually being able to achieve his goal. Eventually, he found one, and after months and months of preparation and instruction, Dionisia had set his sights on a specific ritual. It would not be easy, and required the sacrifice of items not so easily obtained. Whether the complexity of the ritual led to mistakes, or the ritual itself was doomed to fail from the start, he did not succeed, and lost his mentor in the process. Oh well, they weren't that close anyways.

He didn't feel defeated after this--it was only a mistake, after all. Why should he give up after only one try? He continued research on his own this time, and became interested in a god seemingly only mentioned in passing; one shunned and distrusted, but would be able to grant Dionisia's wish for much...cheaper than any other scenario. After drawing the attention of this god, and earning his favor, Dionisia got everything he could ever ask for. But perhaps the cost is turning out to be greater than he initially imagined. Slowly losing his mind and body, plagued by an insatiable appetite that can only be temporarily cured by grotesque foods, he can live forever now, but will he regret that choice?
