Cadenza ✦

Cadenza was a musician of many instruments from a young age, believing while different lyrics had power, so did the way they could be variously delivered. With his hard work, Cadenza was able to become a bard within the merkingdom south of Kalyptos at a young age. He eventually became a composer for an orchestra, creating music for it and himself about modern times and the struggles the world was facing during the shadow lords' rules. Cadenza's music gained some popularity throughout the rest of Kalyptos.

As a young adult, Cadenza fell in love with a mermaid from the royal choir, and won her heart with a song he wrote just for her. The young lovers seemed inseparable, and eventually raised two twin merchildren together, a son named Doremi and a daughter named Fasolati. Together they created and performed music as a family band, planning to someday tour onto the mainland. But when the twins reached a certain age their parents thought suitable for traveling, a new merking came into power due to the influence of the shadow lord Rychon. 

The king was Rychon's puppet after giving into the shadow's in exchange for royal power, originally thinking he could help the merkingdom prosper, but instead became power hungry. Out of fear and wanting what's best for her children, Cadenza's lover confesses the new king was the true father of her twin's born from an affair she had years ago. Once this was proven true, she demanded a wealthy life from the king and protection from the darkness for her children. They compromised: the wife and children would live a safe royal life where the son will someday rule, as long as she marries the king, takes the children, and leaves Cadenza, never see to him again. If he interferes, he’ll be executed. She agrees, much to Doremi and Fasolati's disagreement. 

The twins began to plan an escape with Cadenza, but when they were found out he had to flee on his own without the kids, and took refuge in a cave on the mainland's shore. He began using the power of his music to manipulate the ocean to prevent the kingdom's knights from reaching him. But not only did it keep things from coming from the ocean, he was preventing anything from going into the ocean. Local fishermen grew greatly upset.
