Adya is the first in her family to hunt demons, which is a job usually taken on by a lineage of people. Adya is a rare exception in the fact that they have fought completely solo since their early days, and was never properly trained in it. She has an analytic and careful mind, and was able to survive many deadly encounters with knowledge from her extensive research combined with her quick wit.
Adya got into the job by random chance, being in the wrong place at the wrong time. She was attacked by an inhuman force she could harshly fathom let alone describe, and was unable to move on without knowing exactly what had really happened. They wouldn't be able to rest knowing creatures like the one that attacked them are still out there.
During this time Adya lost contact with her family, at first growing apart from them because they were opposed to her obsession with finding out the truth of what happened, but when she did she began to actively distance herself from her family for their safety.
Adya was exceptional as a demon hunter, known as "The Sword of Shiva", and well-renowned for being brutally efficient. Only once did she spare a demon, making a deal together to save her life. In the process of fulfilling the deal, Adya and the demon became romantically involved. This turned sour when Adya found out that this demon was the same one who had originally attacked them. The demon trapped Adya, trying desperately to stay together, but was ultimately slain when members of the Drake Guard, a prominent lineage of demon hunters showed up. A hunter named Wynette took interest in Adya, and they became close.
Adya is now long past their demon hunting days after that experience. She has settled down with Wynette, and uses her extensive knowledge to make money off other hunters as an informant, while staying out of the field unless absolutely necessary.
