Happy is a tiefling who was found by a village of Druids. Slavers often tried to use the forest as a means of transporting, but on a faithful night the Druids were hunting and caught whiff of outsiders. They defeated the slavers and took with them the children and people they kept. Happy had no family within the other slaves and so was kept by the Druids along with a few other orphans. Since she grew up all she knew was her village and the forest. She loved it that way. She was taught how to forage, then how to hunt and then how to fight. She would weave with her family, sing songs and dance around fires on ceremonial nights, plant in the spring and prepare delicious meals. Her village had many traditions that she still honors to this day. They only kill the inhabitants of the forest for food or to defend themselves, never mercilessly. They would only hunt fresh kill for the day and never stockpiles excess. This was to avoid waste. The only time they did gather extra was when winter approached. The meat was dried and salted to last them through the harsh months as most of the native creatures where hibernating.

Her name was even chosen by herself. Once the children reach the age of 12 they would do a coming of age run around the mountain. The time in which they reached home had no significance, as a great meal was waiting for each of them that returned. The purpose of the run was so the children could find themselves and what they desired within life. She realized that all she wished for in life was to be with her family and grow happy with them in old age. From then on out, she was Happy. Ex. most children until they reach their naming age are referred to by a characteristic. Before she was Happy they called her Rosehair. At thirteen she was training to be a full fledged warrior an hunter for her people. She was very skilled and strong. She found this to be a talent she never knew she possessed and once her initial training was complete the Elder Druid gifted her with the skull helmet of her final kill, so that it’s spirit would ride with her in life and guide her. At 18 he chose her and her friend Seeker, an Aasimar, to compete as his successor as Elder Druid. He was growing old and nearing his time of passing. Happy was dumbfounded, she didn’t believe she could be Elder Druid. She believed surely Seeker was more fit, she was smarter, better at talking and surely more wise than herself. Seeker couldn’t believe Happy was trying to hand off this great opportunity and she scolded her for it and almost took it as if Happy was pitying her, because she didn’t want to compete. Happy fled. She ran off to take time alone to think of what she was just presented with.

Dismay

After traveling from her village going deeper into the forest she was awoken by a nightmare. She smelled charred flesh, heard the screaming of battle and the shrieking of villagers. She rushed back home and even garnered the help of the forest inhabitants. When she arrived to her village it was too late. Huts were burnt and in ruin, bodies littered across the ground of friend and foes alike. She rushed to what was left of the Elder Druid’s hut and when she saw what was left of him she wailed out. His body mangled and his skull headdress was smashed in. She gathered the long fangs and the two gems that adorned it’s eyes. When she held the gems the colors changed and shifted into an aura of colors. She was unsure of why, but slipped them into her satchel. She tried to find Seeker and Mr. Bean scurried around to find any remnants of her. He came back with her medicine pack, filled with viles of different herbs and poultices. He lead her to her body and she was the only one whose face she could fully make out. She wept over her best friend for days, before finally burying her and the rest of her family. She followed the scent of the Outsiders all the way to the Crystal Cave and could see they had made a mess of it, but she noticed the ignored many of the gems that most Nobles loved. They were searching for something specific and she wasn’t sure what exactly. She couldn’t care what it is they where in search of. Nothing was more valuable than the lives that where lost. They murdered her family for nothing and she would make them pay for every last drop of blood they spilled.
