Despair is a demon that relies on corrupting mortal minds to compel them to sacrifice others to them for prey. It instills a deep sense of despair in the minds of its victims that causes them to believe the mortal world is ending horribly and hellishly, and the only way to save everyone from their fate is to perform a ritual that sacrifices their body's to Despair. It's most prominent Victim is Jagged, who diligently preforms the sacrifices while managing to stay mentally stable enough to blend in to society.
