Vladimere was raised in a very religious family, with his father being a pastor. His parents were hard on him and his brother, and eventually his brother Magnus completely snapped. Magnus lit their whole house on fire in the middle of the night, resulting in his own death, his fathers death, and his mother and Vlad being severely injured by their burns. Vlad's mother would rely on him to care for her, but also had become viscous and cruel towards him, saying she wished they had all died that night.
Vladimere also was severely bullied at school for his brothers actions. He met Kiray when she defended Vlad, chasing the kids who were beating on him away. Kiray had faced similar treatment due to her own past issues with mental health, and the two became close as outcasts. Eventually, Kiray would move out of her parents place, and Vlad would try to move in with them. Kiray's father would only allow it if they got married, so they did, and while the wedding was a mess the two are happy living together. Vlad draws and Kiray writes, so the two inspire each other to keep working on their projects. Vladimere has also realized her gender since living with Kiray, and they've encouraged her to explore it.
