Tesni didn't intend to fall in with a lich and a princess in hiding; it just sort of happened. Originally sent off to train with the Kingsguard...and failing miserably she found herself shipped back home with a letter of rejection.
Not to say she's not an excellent fighter-she is-but she repeatedly ignored orders to stand down and fall back, or any order that she disagreed with. Blatant insubordination was not to be tolerated and as such Tes found herself boarding the same train and Emyr and Arel.
Maybe if she's lucky escorting the missing princess will get her into someone's good graces...
