 A Merrick is a sealed demon's (usually very powerful demon also) animal form in the fantasy world called Lazuli.

(Small information about the world Lazuli if your interested,ignore to next paragraph if you don't want to read) Lazuli is a world where magic exists. It is inhabited by humans,elves,demons (very rare though) and all sorts of mythical creatures exist.

Their appearence can be changed by will but are usually portrayed as a cute creature so they can lure clueless mages into owning them.

When Merricks obtain a owner they usually steal their life energy which in return also gets them closer to becoming unsealed again.
