Shattered Opal

Born without wings unlike the rest of the race, Shining Opal was abused by his rich and powerful family. He eventually learned a spell, one that should not have been used, where he could gain wings of his own. Even if they would not have put him into the air because of their size, he had gained some respect from his family afterwards, but he did not stop there.... 

In life, he had learned that his one and only friend had passed away due to an accident. He would then be more fascinated with the meaning and the effects of life and death, and decided to bring back his friend with dark magic. It did not turn out well as he'd hoped, but assumed it was just from lack of practice or experience. So he read and learned more forbidden magics from an old library that he snuck into and tried again with dead animals and pets. He'd eventually notice the lack of saturation of his coat and the more sensitive wings with the feathers falling out. 

As life went on, his family noticed his look changing and asked him what was going on. He admitted the things that he had done just to please them, but thy were not happy and sent him away, disowning him. Saddened by this, he ran to the library, stole the books that had the dark magic spells in them, and ran into the Everfree Woods, never to be seen again by his family nor town folk. Years would go by as he practiced and practiced until he perfected necromancy, and had mastered dark magic, but at a cost of his wings, body parts, and mind....

This is when he would be renamed the "Undead Shattered Opal."
