Backstory

Born of dragons of fire and earth, Revyn had a tolerance for heat even greater than that of his purely fireborn parent, but also an even greater aversion to water and cold. He struck out on his own after only a hundred years in their watchful care and quickly proved himself so capable an powerful that an emissary of Heaven chose to task him with the guardianship of a holy relic. As this was a common and very respectable undertaking for a dragon Revyn eagerly accepted the responsibility and began to wander the world on the winds as young dragons do, searching for the place he would one day make his own territory.

After she had reached two hundred years, Revyn found herself the target of another dragon. Blue scaled with golden horns and triming their blue scales with a pale white belly, Malominis was everything that Revynzarre was not. They were ancient, powerful, and wise. It is common for dragons to fight one another for the treasures they guard, for if a dragon is not strong enough to defend their charge they are not worthy to have it. Revyn assumed that this was Malo's intent for attacking her and so reacted in kind to protect her claim. Their lightning breath was powerful enough to burn Revyn's flesh and their claws raked deep, but as fiercely as dragons fight they never fight to the death. Revyn managed to keep her treasure and escape the elder dragon, but was too weak and wounded to fly until her wounds began to heal once more. She crashed upon an island too small for habitation to wait out her recovery, keeping an eye to the horizon in case her attacker returned to take what they were after from a weakened Revyn. Far too late she learned she was not alone.

Revyn's rest was interrupted by the shriek of a terrified human in priestess garb. Revyn was annoyed at first and tried to avoid the human, but when the human kept finding them and trying to offer help, either by cleaning their wounds or bringing food and water. Curiosity and tenderness for the human woman won out, and Revyn soon began learning the language of the human in order to speak with her. She learned that her name was Saela, and she was the sole human inhabitant of the island. She had been sent to keep the spirit of the dead goddess Utia at peace and would remain here alone for the rest of her life. Aside from supply shipments and annual inspections, Saela was completely alone. Perhaps that is why she sought out the dragon so stubbornly. Revyn quickly grew to like this human, who despite the crushing loneliness and the weight of such a duty on so young a person still remained kind and cheerful, if a bit melancholy.

Present Day

Revyn's affections have turned from friendship to romance, and she claims the human Saela as her fated mate, the one true love of her life. Dragons choose only one mate for life, so choosing a mortal with such a short lifespan certainly seems unwise. Revyn is so very in love that he doesn't care, however. He keeps an eye on the horizon for his rival Malominis, and slowly regains his strength as he still cannot fly with his injuries. In the meantime she makes life easier for Saela around the island and uses her powers both to delight Saela and to entertain herself. He has no inkling that anyone would oppose his relationship nor any doubt that what he has chosen is right, and he hopes to ease Saela's mind of said doubts.
