branton, or braun as he prefers, was a burly crafter who specialized in gem cutting, working on the outskirts of large cities to make money under the table for his younger brother and his best friend etty, a shooter rebel. the three of them and various other companions live underground outside the capital, when they aren't all moving around. braun is caught in the same bad deal as etty and gets taken out by shooters.
when braun wakes up in the gravewastes with his head several feet from his body, he remembers everything, and he is absolutely furious. he loses a few years to mindless rage, wandering the wastes and raising hell. eventually he tires himself out, and realizes there's no chance of him finding his brother or etty if he's running around wrecking things, and decides his best bet is to move out to the oriens and establish himself as a gem cutter again, and start building a network of allies and informants to track down his family.
