Kogami

Life started for Kogami just outside of the Chikara border, where his father and mother raised him from an early age to be a samurai. His father had come from quite a long like of samurai, himself, so it was only customary and natural for his child to learn the ways of the sacred samurai as well. Kogami found that, as time went on, he enjoyed the training, and found the small challenges and tasks to be something of a pleasure. Not only that but the fact that he could be helping people and keeping the peace within the land was, both, an appealing and profitable prospect. Samurai got well paid for their work, depending on just what entity was their master. Kogami's father had been one of the emperor's men all his life, and Kogami would ultimately become the same. And he did, and he kept the peace and fought alongside his father... but his father ultimately died in a fatal accident. Kogami seemed to change after his father's death. He became more... rigid, content to fulfill his samurai duties to their fullest and not much else. He still kept care of his mother, but it grew more difficult to find time for himself just because then his thoughts would take over. Nevertheless, after some time of grieving, he did meet a woman. Her name was Yuna.

It wasn't exactly love at first sight, but love did eventually begin to grow and blossom. There weren't often times they weren't near each other. Intimacies like holding hands and kissing cheeks were reserved for when they were alone and when Kogami was off duty. Eventually they became engaged and eventually were married. Some time later they ended up having children, two boys. Kogami couldn't be more happy and more proud of his family, his wife and his boys, of whom he would also train to fight in the ways of the samurai. However, as unfortunate as it was, such a thing would never come to pass. One day, when he was finished with his duties and returned home, he was met with a horrible sight. The doors were sliced open, coals were strewn about from incense burners, and blood was sprinkled upon the floor. He ran into his house, frantic, looking for his family, only to find his wife's body in a pool of blood. He ran to the children's room and found both of his boys in a similar state. Dead... Dead and long gone. He was in shock of what he had seen, but was quick to desire revenge. He wanted to see who had done this to his family, to see their blood spilled just like they had spilled his family's. So he was quick to run and hunt them down. It took days, perhaps weeks but he found them, and he killed them in a way no samurai should. He resorted to what was known as dirty tactics, something samurai were never allowed to do, but he did it because he knew they'd just run if he alerted them. He left their bodies there, not bothering to bury them, and instead returned to his family's graves to continue mourning for their loss. All that he had... gone.

The emperor found out about what he had done, and stripped him of all the honor he had, leaving Kogami out on the streets without a master. Deciding he didn't have much else to really live for, he gave the remainder of his possessions and the majority of his money to his mother. He left the country he grew up in and crossed the border into Chikara. Since then he has become something of a ronin, since the ways of a samurai was something he grew up on. It was all he knew and still all he knows. To this day, he lives off the land, wandering like a nomad with no one but his trusty companion, Hyacinth, helping those who need it. While many consider him a vigilante, a man of unpredictable manner, many see him and believe he does more good than harm.
