About

(This page is currently being revised, so any missing information will eventually be filled out in more detail. I will enable a notification for the page when this is done.)

Trychel is a rude and ambiently hostile demon with a lazy yet dominating personality. He has no specific occupation and generally just follows his impulses in life to stave off boredom, often getting himself in trouble in doing so.

He is a rather uncommon case of a demon who spends much of his time on Zephyr because he enjoys using his ability to sample and apply attributes from one object to another to mess with mortals in crafty ways. That, and he can easily overpower them to steal things he wants, amassing his collection of random stolen Zephyrian objects which he keeps in his home in the underworld.

Notes

  • Grey underbelly, inner ears, and inner sides of the tip of his tail. Grey on his muzzle goes up across the bridge of his snout in an arch-like shape.
  • Orange goes up his wrists to the bottom of his shoulders, stripes his tail, tips his ears, and accents his underbelly as tips on his cheeks, chest, and waist.
  • Two small green markings on the center of the inner sides of the tip of his tail.
  • Ears go on the side of his head rather than the top, stick out horizontally, and have two vertical bands that go across the inner opening near the tip.
  • Notably fluffy fur, has a longer ruff starting from the back of his head that travels along his back. Scruffy chin as well.
  • Has a weird tail, skinny and somewhat long that ends in a split diamond-shaped tip.
  • Usually shirtless. Often wears his custom jorts. Also has a cloak-styled cape he wears from time to time, usually still without a shirt under it.

Personality

Friendly Reserved
Polite Blunt

Sensitive Tough
Brave Timid
Careful Reckless
Sincere Deceptive
Diligent Lazy
Calm Irritable
Humorous Serious

Trychel is lazy, callous, and dominating. He likes doing what he wants when he wants, and this often includes partying or screwing with people using his demonic abilities in a wide range of crafty applications.

However, he is not entirely cruel or heartless; though rare, he does have his moments of compassion, being more of an antihero than a flat-out villain. He will defend people from harm or bigotry, but will refuse to admit it being for the victim's sake, and instead claim the other person was just ticking him off.

In spite of this good side, though, Trychel is widely known as a menace to mortals for his tendency to just steal whatever he wants, trespass where he wants to go, and all-around breaking rules and messing with people left and right. Other demons also tend to find him annoying, but because they are able to counter his trickery with their own abilities, he is mostly known as a pest in the underworld - this is a big reason why he spends so much time on Zephyr instead of in his own domain.

Likes

Breaking Rules

Despite how it may seem, Trychel doesn't entirely disregard rules. In fact, he specifically likes to learn of them so that he can intentionally break them, as he finds it funny to find clever ways to bend them to see how mortals react and to see how much he can get away with before the authorities try to stop him. This mainly focuses on trespassing and theft - ranging from petty offenses to more national-level attention, purely depending on his whims and what he thinks seems more interesting at the time. Trychel, however, has no interest in anything that would seriously harm people.

Starting Fights

Trychel enjoys picking fights, typically only with people who tick him off in one way or another or who he picks up as similar-minded individuals who would also enjoy the fight. When it comes to the former classification, it is often people who are being explicitly cruel to others in a way that he feels crosses a line, like harming vulnerable people or expressing open bigotry. In such cases, Trychel lays them out more harshly than usual, but denies doing so to defend those targeted, passing it off as "this person was just ticking me off."

"Gambling"

Trychel enjoys pretending to gamble with mortals who are not aware of his powers, as it gives him a chance to use them to skew things in his favor. Of course, he could just take what he wants from the mortals anyway, but he oftentimes has more fun with the psychological aspect of outsmarting them.

Parties

Trychel attends mortal parties whenever possible, as it provides him an opportunity to engage with his other interests; the wilder the party, the better. He enjoys the alcohol available at such events and has fun showing off his abilities as party tricks, and picking fights with irritating individuals who might also be present.

Skills & Abilities

Attribution

Using metaphysical arrow projectiles, Trychel can sample any trait from one object and then apply it to another. Examples include giving a ping-pong ball the weight of a table, giving his claws the texture and strength of a gemstone, and giving a rock the shape and size of a quarter. Which he absolutely uses in the kind of ways you'd think. Applied attributes are temporary, but somewhat long-lasting, taking several hours to wear off.

Polarizing Fur

Like most other reflector demons, Trychel has long magic-conducting fur that dampens the impact of magic energy while also absorbing trace amounts of it, sort of like building up static electricity. When distressed, the fur changes color and reverses its polarity, sending the built-up magic energy back out in a shockwave-like burst. Trychel himself doesn't use this much, and it is quite difficult to control. It also has the downside of potentially building up too much magic energy in his fur without expelling it, leading to a possibly dangerous buildup.

Craftiness

Trychel is a clever individual, able to easily trick others; mainly in conjunction with his Attribution ability, but he can still pull off clever tricks without it if necessary. Honestly, this is where most of his intelligence goes.

Summary

Backstory

The Gods themselves have had to intervene when he broke physics at one point, and it's still unclear whether or not the event was intentional on Trychel's behalf. It likely goes without saying that local law enforcement hates him, too.

Carries the following:

Alloy Crystal - A bluish crystal Trychel carries around in his pocket. It is very resilient and possesses a minor "nullification" property, where forces including magic or pressure don't go through it very well. He often uses his Attribution ability to temporarily give his claws these properties.

Rocks - Trychel often carries a small collection of rocks for the purpose of altering their attributes - most commonly giving them the temporary shape of quarters to exploit vending machines, leaving maintenance staff confused as to how rocks got into the money slot. He can also give the rocks heavier weight or other dangerous properties as he throws them, if he finds himself in a pinch.

Quarter - Trychel only ever carries one, with it functioning as more of a print model than currency to actually use.
