Chaos

During the middle of the winter, in the coldest night, two rabbits were taking care of their warren, it was freezing, as they were going to sleep, they realized that one of their kittens was colder than usual, he had been sick for the last few days, they tried to wake him up, but it was too late, he was gone.

He woke up in the middle of the warren, suddendly feeling well, as if his sickness was just gone, he noticed his parents were playing with his siblings, but they seemed sad, he sprinted in their direction to play with them, only to run straight past them, he tried to talk to them but they couldn't hear or see him, he was confused, upset, and scared. He ran throught the walls and stopped on the outside of the warren, he didn't know where to go. Out of nowhere, blue and purple flames emerged from the ground, out of the smoke a white fox came out, introducing himself as Spydow. Spydow comforted him and guided him into the flames.

They ended up in a magical forest, Spydow guided the rabbit to a big rock in a clearing, in that clearing there was another orange fox, with fur like fire, Eurizione, and another little rabit waiting for them. Spydow explained to the rabbits that Star and Spook, the previous goddesses of life and death, died, and that they needed animals to fill those roles urgently, and because they had very short lifes, the gods thought that they could be good candidates. The two rabbits happilly agreed, the idea of being gods like the ones from the old tales sounded amazing to them, the little rabbit was named Chaos, and his partner was named Peace, Chaos' fur darkened to coal-black, he grew wings and antlers, and felt that his eyes were different, Spydow and Euruzione cheered for them and said that they would guide them on using their powers.

Chaos and Peace grew up fast, they had a good relationship with everyone, although Peace was the most social between the two, this seemed to worry some of the other animals in the forest, but Chaos couldn't figure out why, and never really bothered to. He always felt better around Spydow and Euruzione anyway. One day, he saw that Peace was feeling sad, he didn't know her that well, but didn't want to see her like that, he tried to comfort her the best he could, and it seemed to work. After that, they started to hang out together more often, and really enjoyed each other's company. One day he found a hidden garden of golden flowers and took her there, it seemed that no one knew about that place, or at least no one cared about it, so she proposed that the garden could be their secret spot. They spent a lot of time there, and loved spending time together. Everything was going great.

Chaos and Peace were assigned some missions where they had to go to the planet Aryas to do something, they had done that many times, and that day they expected it to be nothing different, Chaos' mission was to make sure all of the Skyars died during a war they got caught into, as one of them would grow to cause the death of many. However, while he was making sure everyone was dead, he had a bad feeling, a feeling that he really needed to go, so he assumed that no one survived and left. When he came back Peace wasn't on the place they agreed to meet, she was nowhere to be seen. He looked for her everywhere and eventually went to their garden, where he found Peace mortally wounded, slowly bleeding out from her neck. He wanted to call for help, but she asked him to stay there with her, she didn't want to go alone. He stood by her side till the end, and when she finally died, he let out all of the sadness he had been boiling up. After being missing for hours, the animals in the forest went looking for them, and finally found Chaos crying by her side, she was buried in the forest, and the animals tried to comfort Chaos about the event, but he would just stay hidden in burrows and trees

After Peace died, Chaos shut himself away from everyone, and a few days later, he decided that he didn't belong in that forest anymore, not when she wasn't there. While he was leaving, he got caught by Spydow and Euruzione, who only stated that if that's what he wanted, they wouldn't stop him, only asking him to keep in touch and "not do anything stupid" before giving their last goodbyes. Chaos fled to the main planet, Aryas, and spent days just wondering what he should do. Eventually, he figured what he should do, Peace was killed in Aryas, whoever killed her was out there. And Chaos wanted them to pay back. At the start, Chaos started to look for clues of who the killer could be so that he could track them down, but he found that to be harder than he expected, he had zero information giving out who the killer could have been, so, eventually, he gave up, and decided that if he couldn't track them, he would eventually run into them, so he started to kill everyone who dared to cross him, being the God of Death for so long made it so that seeing others die was natural to him, all that mattered to him was that Peace was dead, and that whoever killed her had to suffer the consequences, he did that for a long, long time, until one day, he stopped. It wasn't worth it anymore, he knew how upset Spy and Zio would be if they knew what he had been doing, he knew how upset Peace would be if she knew, and even if he did kill the animal who killed her, it wouldn't bring her back, he wouldn't even have the satisfaction of knowing they were dead, since he had no idea who it was. So eventually, he just gave up, and ran deep into the woods.

For months he stayed in the middle of the woods just thinking about what had happened, trying to move on without Peace and with all the red he had on his conscience. One day, in the middle of the woods, he heard a bush rustling, he lived in a pretty much abandoned area, no way whoever was there came by accident, he leaped at the bush the rustling came from and landed on an orange animal, her eyes looked weirdly similar to his, she kicked him off and stood on a defensive position, he questioned why she was there, all she stated was that she wanted to stay somewhere no one could find her, but it seems like that didn't work out. She introduced herself as Spook, the previous Goddess of Death, which really set him off, as he had just assumed that she had died like Star, as no one ever heard from her again, she explained that she didn't had many places to go and just wants to stay undercover to the gods until she dies or the universe explodes, whichever came first, as she had done things she didn't think she could ever repay for. Chaos allowed her to stay around only because her situation was similar to his, but told her to not interfere with his day to day life, and that if she tried anything, she was dead. They would eventually have small talks as time passed, and the more they talked, the more they would see that they were more similar than they imagined. And eventually they grew to trust each other, one night, while talking to one another, they ended up saying how they got there, and after telling her about what happened to him, she suggested the possibility that Peace was killed by a Devil of Darkness, beings made out of nothing but evil, thought to be exiled from this realm, who, according to her investigations, have been killing several gods, she asks him to help her defeat them, saying that surely it would clear the red out of his record. Having nothing left to lose, Chaos agrees to help, and they set out to track the location of the Devils of Darkness' hive.
