✦ water nymphs

okay so !! here are the water nymphs from the world that pip is a part of !
shown here r kallie, jam, and resi !!

water nymphs have a different culture than other nymphs !!

they have 2 different types: plant based and animal based!!
they're all born w/ aspects of both, but as they grow up they tend to lean to one side or another!!
all water nymphs have high levels of this bioluminescence thing (except for the combo but i'll explain tht later) except each type uses it differently and has a different function for it ! their eyes also have it ! so they can see the things
also their hair is made of a water-like material ! when clumped together, it forms a pond thingy!! think of water surface tension but much higher
they dont show their eyes above water bc their afraid of getting dried out !!
the plants nd animals rnt real i think ? they might just be OoOo plant/animal spirits livin in ya hair but like i havent decided
the longer their hair, the "better' they are in the culture .some subcultures dont care tht much about it tho

plant-based water nymphs:
. waterfall-like hair (it disappears into the V O I D)
. plants grow along the edges
. their bioluminescence is located as STRANDS in their hair! and also one long fin-like thing along their spine :0 sometimes they smear it onto their hands so they can heal unhealthy plants they can't reach w/ their strands
. its purpose is to provide sunlight, CO2, and other nutritious stuff for the plants growing there (so like it replaces everything outside of water)
. they have two (2) plants that grow out of the back of their head/nape of the neck, and that's the point where the water leaves the head completely. those two plants are able to be controlled by the nymph !!

animal-based water nymphs:
. hair is more floofy (jellyfish-like)
. bioluminescence is at the bottom of their hair in clumps ! and also along their legs and arms !! they do that so they can attract wandering fish spirits !
. in this case, the bioluminescence is like Soul Food !! provides everything a fish could want .. .
. these ones r closer to like mermaids than plant-based

combo water nymphs (rare!!):
. generally never happen !! its when a water nymph has the same about of genes and therefore is able to house both plants and animals
. very very low levels of bioluminescence :0 bc there are both plants and animals present, an equilibrium is created out of those and not much self-created bioluminescence is needed
. however, as a result of that, there's not much shiny stuff to attract said soul plants/animals, so combo water nymphs gotta get some man-made (so to speak) material get the animals to get over here !!
