Sevain the people's champion

Gladiator Race-Muvell Gender-male He is 7ft tall and his coat is a golden-brown color. The top of his left ear has a slit missing from a poorly timed duck. His will is strong and unwavering. He is of noble birth and his manorism shows grace and diligence. Sevain is a gladiator in the city of slaves. Sevain is not a slave himself, and did not join the coliseum to pay off a massive debt like other gladiators. Few free men volunteer for the coliseum, but Sevain is the first one to do it for someone other than himself. Sevain uses his winnings to buy the debts off of the other gladiators and to purchase mistreated slaves. Due to the nature of the city freeing those he has bought would cause problems. Instead of fighting the system he created a loophole and partially frees his slaves. All of his slaves wear iron braces on their arms or feet with his emblem on them, but there are no loops to attach chains to. None of his slaves wear chains. All of his slaves wear real commoner clothes, and are allowed to choose any task that the Sevain family does business in as their job. His servants are by law not allowed to receive pay, and instead distribute a false currency that only the Sevain family uses which their slaves can use to trade within the family business. Alternatively once a week the slaves can bring the currency to the main family who will create a “shopping list” and purchase whatever the slaves asked for with real money. Sevain’s take on slavery has created a sort of upper class slave that have been nicknamed Sevians. The nobles in the city scorn Sevain for his his underhanded resistance to slavery (in their eyes), but they can't openly disown him for he has not broken any laws. Sevain’s reputation with the general public and the slaves is extremely high, and is considered to be a champion of the common people. In the ring Sevain uses the traditional Muvell spear and shield with leather armor. Sevain sometimes participates in non-lethal duels, but mostly fights large beasts in the arena (makes more money). The Sevain family has most of its resources in clothes making (and armor making), but also has several small shops opened in weapon making, agriculture, and intercity trade.
