Gary is a practical Flat man who is satisfied with what he's done for others, and with his job at GWS, but wishes he'd had more luck with his personal aspirations, specifically becoming a defense attorney and his performance in the Mr. Game & Watch competition in 2018. As a result, he is always eager for opportunities to use his legal or fighting expertise, both of which he has retained.
At work, (and in general,) he tends to be quite matter-of-fact and doesn't tolerate excessive tomfoolery. He is very quick to scold employees for making mistakes at work, but only in very rare cases takes actual official disciplinary action. He sees GWS as a place where Flat people down on their luck can pick up work and get good experience.
His name, of course, is meant to evoke the beginnings of the words "Game" and "Watch."

Design Notes
- From any angle at which his eyes are visible, his nose should be as well. It should protrude from his face unless he is facing forward.
- He can't be shaded, he can only appear as flat black. (The most "complicated" he can appear is semitransparent with a shadow.)
- In LCD areas, his shadow appears directly behind him (as if on a wall directly behind him) rather than cast onto a floor.
- He cannot appear with overly sharp edges or overly thin lines. (This includes negative space on or around his body.)

Backstory
As a Flat person, Gary has lived an extremely long time and has gone a long while without losing his memory, so his life story should be pretty long. However, most relevant to this story and characters: some years ago, he attended law school, where he met Match. However, while she went on to become a successful prosecuting attorney, Gary was not able to start a law career, even after passing the bar. While researching and considering opening his own office, he was alerted to the dire situation of one failing GW Staffing, a temp company with an all-Flat staff(technically a coincidence). After a former general manager quit, leadership problems put the company in a concerning decline. Being well-respected in the LCD community and happening to have some previous management experience, Gary applied to fill the vacant position. While he didn't single-handedly save the company, his leadership contributed remarkably to getting it back on its feet.
He was inspired by the Mr. Game & Watch competitions which started in 2000, and finally decided to compete in 2018. His chosen moveset, like that of the winner, made many interesting changes to the previous year's, leaving him to basically come up with new combos on his own. Despite this, he managed to place 2nd, losing after both he and the eventual winner struck each other with the same move, but Gary was knocked out first. Since then, he has tried to keep in touch with the other Mr. Game & Watch winners, who have occasionally invited him to Smash Bros. events and parties. (It's very easy for him and other Flat people to sneak in, since technically anyone could be "Mr. Game & Watch.") He still somewhat regrets losing that final match.
Somewhat recently, he was a key witness in the trial of the serial killer Maximilian Quinn. He witnessed a murder by chance, and remained undiscovered by pretending to be a shadow on a wall.
Present Day
Still working at GWS, Gary has most recently had his hands full supervising the training of MISS, the newest hire. It has been going not too awfully, but there is still much to teach her, and he has much to learn about non-LCD species. Meanwhile, he is oblivious to Quinn's plans for revenge.
