Description

A relatively newer created Aschevolk, Mateo is trying to find his place within the world he is born in, while waiting in hopes for a glimpse of his creator, the Wolfsbane Reaper, who he only fuzzly remembers, but what he does remember, he latches onto; his kindness, ideals; and bases his beginnings on that. He is very interested in humans, and the basis of what makes them so. Thus he turns to their emotions, being very intrigued and focused on Love in particular,  chasing and seeking it out in his Reaper.

He finds Kalím,  an Aschevolk belonging to the Countaldown Cadence order, and is immediately drawn to him in both expected, and unexpected ways. He watches him in awe of his precision, the cleaness and efficiencies in which he does his job, and eventually finds the courage in himself to ask for some help, so he can actually collect the souls he needs for his reaper.  

They fall in love for a brief period, some time before the incident involving Kalím falling for a human, causing him to be distant, much to Mateo's concern. Mateo stops training with him for awhile, as Kalím bnecomes engulfed and obsessed with his work.

Through the miraculous power of the gift of mac and cheese, he also befriends another Aschevolk of his order, a particular rowdy man named Zesty. As Zesty and Mateo hang out more and more frequently, their feelings for each other also begin to flourish, and with Zesty's flirting and Mateo's lag on catching on it, resulting in many a flustered situation for the two... Their relationship is full of fun and lightheartedness, tender moment littered within. The two are often inseperable and seen constantly showing each other something the other would like or hanging out causing mischief. (Mostly Zesty's ideas, which Mateo is always happy to entertain.)

Kalím eventually picks back up training with Mateo again, in a much more happier and stable place. Through Zesty and Kalím, Mateo is finally able to throw off the shadow of trying to mimic his reaper as his lifestyle, distant and detached while still trying to love everything in the world. He thouroughly enjoys all the little things with Zesty in their lives...and whatever trouble he gets them into. Also, teasing Kalím on the regular.
