Cole, also known as Agent 3, is quiet and calculating, but not unkind. He's an efficient and dedicated Captain of the New Squidbeak Splatoon.

Cole is nonspeaking, and will use sign language if he ever needs to talk. He's dating Wally, who insists on being with him despite his mind control paranoia. He had a strained relationship with Dex due to their loud and gloating nature. He has the highest respect for Former-Cap'n Cuttlefish, Callie, and Marie. As well as a tiny crush on Marie.

Before becoming Agent 3, he was more energetic than he is now. He was an active participant in Turf Wars and ranked fairly high. However, that all changed when Cap'n Cuttlefish recruited him to become Agent 3 when he was 15. Despite saving the Great Zapfish, he gained many scars during his original stint as the Hero of Inkopolis.

He recovered for a while, taking a break from battling as he'd becoming famous thanks to the broadcasting of his heroic deeds everywhere. Only a few months later he returned to work as Agent 3, keeping baddies away from the city. But then he received a distress signal to save Agent 8 and descended into the Underground. Being partially sanitized by Tartar changed him, both physically and mentally. He now has a marking on his face and hair where he was sanitized, as well as a brown eye on that side.

He befriended Agent 8, discovered that his younger brother is Agent 4, and barely interacts with anyone else. He works even harder and and efficiently than before, no matter how tired he gets. He doesn't want anything like that to happen again. Isolating himself helps calm his anxieties about hurting others, as he's worried one day he'll revert back to the mind control Tartar put him under.
