A merchant living in the underbelly of a city planet, Sal tends to deal in whatever other people can't or won't. She has approximate knowledge of many things and knows how to drive a hard bargain. She knows her local district as if she's lived there her entire life, though she's actually the runaway heiress of a large, interplanetary corporation.
In her downtime Sal likes to flirt with local girls and haunt local establishments looking for new opportunities, or maybe just a drink or several.

Summary
Born Kastra Alcyone, in line to be the heiress of her family's company, which most notably owns a large mining fleet. She was raised to be a part of high society, but as a teenager preferred to cause trouble instead, planet-hopping for days at a time and seducing the daughters of other families at important events. Her family tolerated it for a while, but eventually they tired of their daughter’s antics and gave her an ultimatum: shape up her act, or things would have to change by force. Kastra decided instead to leave her family, snagging most of her jewelry on the way out, and disappeared into the night and the cold expanse of space.
She adopted the name Sally Van Buren, and after a few months found herself on the city planet of Valaria. Running low on money after her parents cut off her accounts, she decided to finally pawn off some of her jewelry in a local establishment. She convinced the shop owner to let her stick around as an employee, and picked up a lot of knowledge in the two years she worked there.
Sally played around with a few personal pursuits before finding her niche, by setting up a similar enterprise in another district.
Design
• Tall and lanky, with wide shoulders and a pretty rectangular build.
• Her ears, tail, and 'whiskers' are fleshy sensory protrusions.
• Scar on her right eyebrow, she ran into a low-hanging metal beam. Has been known to tell much cooler stories about how she got it.
• Quite facially androgynous.
• Generally dresses for practicality, but likes to wear her shirts open.
Trivia
• Sal isn't much in hand-to-hand combat, but she's a deadeye with a laser pistol.
• Was taught traditional etiquette as a child, but usually chooses to ignore her lessons.
• Quite knowledgeable about antiques and other useless items that are usually the domain of the upper class.
