Biography
Raine has been with the circus for a little bit over a year. She is the contortionist of the circus and performs her act on the regular. Her act consists of her fitting into seemingly impossible narrow objects like glass vases and various contortion routines. She is also a self-proclaimed fortune-teller and does readings when she feels like it. The results of the readings often depend on how much people are willing to pay her.
Raine is an optimistic type, often to a fault, trying to find the small comforts in the most unfavourable situations. Yes is her default answer, only saying no when something doesn't strike her interest or clearly isn't in her merit to do. Free spirited at heart, Raine doesn't take kindly to people who tell her what to do. However, it is very easy to convince her to do something, regardless of what she might initially think of it. The number one way to make Raine do something is to tell her she can't do it. She likes a challenge and usually dives head first into a situation only to mildly regret it later on.
Curiosity is what drives Raine. To her, there is nothing more thrilling than the unknown mysteries of life. This rings true for the people Raine meets and the objects she comes into possession with. Sadly, this also means she loses interest very easily once she has uncovered the truth, meaning and story behind something she previously was obsessed with. Paired with this, she has a bad habit of passing off items to other people when she loses interest in them or swindling people she doesn't like into buying these items for a higher price.
In the circus, Raine would be known for her tardiness, unpredictability, playfulness and overall just for being a melodramatic mess all across the board. Despite giving off a rather naïve impression of herself, she is very intuitive and has a good read on people and certain situations most of the times. She has a sharp ear for lies and depending on the situation, she'll feint ignorance. Eventhough she's good at keeping others' secrets, she's terribly indiscrete herself. If Raine did something she shouldn't have, chances are the entire circus will know about it in some way. Examples of these are:
- She might do drugs before and/or after performing.
- If Raine asks if she could borrow something, you're never seeing it back. (Unless you're willing to trade her something for it.)
- She hides magic mushrooms and other shady contraband in somebody else's trailer.
- You can easily use juicy gossip, secrets or interesting stories as payment for her favours.
- If Raine says that something TERRIBLE has happened, it's not that serious.

"Beauty in Eye of Behold."
Backstory
On her 18th birthday, Raine joined her group of fellow renegade friends on an one way trip out of their homeland, leaving behind their tradition-bound tribe in search for something new and adventurous. They had no particular destination in mind and went wherever the wind blew. The group, consisting of dancers, musicians and storytellers, lived off the earnings of their performances and the occasional cons and schemes.
During their travels, Raine fell head over heels for the alluring Wild Flame, the minstrel and leader of their group. While her crush wasn't necessarily a secret amongst the group, Raine never had the courage to actively pursue him. Her love for Wild Flame remained one-sided and unanswered for. She'd often indulge herself in the comforts of drinking and gossiping when she knew Wild Flame was out courting yet another lay for the night.
After travelling for about a year, Raine would find herself in an unexpected break from her group. An argument, the so-manieth heartbreak and a couple drinks too many later, Raine woke up in a back alley to a persistent hangover, a burnt down tavern and her friends nowhere to be found. Despite not being able to remember what had happened that night, she had a gut instinct she might not be completely uninvolved in the incident. She soon leaves for the neighbouring port town after hearing a rumour of a travelling troupe that is making their way in that direction.
Arriving at the port, she soon finds out the rumour wasn't about her friends, but about a travelling circus that had set up there temporarily. Unable to find and reconnect with her group, Raine came to terms with the fact she might never see them again. She contemplated about waiting at the port for the chance of seeing them there, she even thought about going back to the homeland for a bit. However, one glance at the vast ocean and the distant horizon and she was taken back to the memory of her seeing the ocean for the very first time. The nostalgic yet new surge of excitement and impatience fuelled her to go forward with her journey to uncover the unknown.
Deciding it's probably safer to travel with companions, Raine visits the circus to inquire about a chance to travel alongside them. Inspired and intrigued by the various people from all walks of life at the circus, Raine finds herself wanting join them in their endeavours. She was able to convince them to let her join the family after showcasing her skills as a performing contortionist and has been travelling with them ever since.
