It probably shouldn't be capable of exploding, but if there is a way to get it there, Skrittles will find it.
It started with little seedling pods that fell off the Pale Tree. With a little bit of tinkering around, she could manage to get them to explode into small, non-dangerous puffs of pollen. Skrittles grew easily fascinated with explosions.
After some training, she joined up with the Vigil and sat down with a group of bomb specialists and learned everything she could about making different types of bombs. From small bombs to big ones, mines, and grenades too. If it would explode, she had to learn something about it.
