About
Mishka is part of a long family line of wolf shifters, or "werewolf" minus the full moon theory. Her mother, Loveta, is a powerful wolf, known for her strength and wisdom. One day, Loveta met a human Russian boy named Dimitri, who she fell in love with. Feeling betrayed, the pack banished Loveta because she had chosen her heart over her mind. With nothing to stop her anymore, Loveta married Dimitri, where they had their only daughter. The family of 3 lived peacefully in the woods where no one could bother them. Loveta stayed at home to care for her cub while Dimitri went to work. When Mishka was 3, Dimitri got promoted, but the family had to move into the city to make commuting easier for him. The city caused stress in the household, and fights became a common thing. Both adults loved each other too much to divorce, but they're different needs is what caused the stress.
Mishka was 5 when her wolf powers manifested. She was also 5 when she and her mother got in an accident (though not on the same day). After an argument, Loveta left the house. Mishka ran out after her mother, who just pulled out of the driveway (did I mention Loveta knew to drive to fit in with the humans?). Because Loveta was emotional, she didn't see the car that was coming fast. Mishka happened to be in the way after the cars impacted, causing her to be seriously injured. Loveta, however, died on impact.
After the accident, Dimitri became depressed. He was given accommodating hours at work to help care for Mishka, which would change as she grew. When Mishka was 10, Dimitri started coming home late and drunk. When Mishka was 12, Dimitri would bring women home. Without Loveta, he felt a hole inside him that could never be filled. Luckily he was never abusive to Mishka or blamed her because he knew she did nothing wrong. But that didn't mean he was the best father to Mishka.
Without her mother, Mishka started to become depressed, though it was a slow process. As her father started becoming distant, the depression grew. She was never suicidal (luckily), but she still had this deep pain and hatred that would never go away. Because of her mother's family banishing her, Mishka had a hard time learning her powers. It took what she had learned from her mother, what her father had been told, and through self discovery that she was able to learn control. But even with full control of her wolf, she never had the confidence to make friends. She was afraid that they would call her a monster if they ever found out. So she kept to herself. Mishka used art as one form of therapy. The other form was running through the woods behind her school.
