About

Sonam is a Xaela Au Ra hailing from the edges of the Azim Steppe. He left his home when he was around seventeen years old and has been travelling ever since. Sonna loves to travel and enjoys making friends. As such, he does everything he can to keep people safe. The titles of Warrior of Light and Warrior of Darkness prove to be difficult for him to carry at times due to not only their importance but the amount of people he has lost. He strives to protect everyone and when he can't he feels like a failure, though after some talking to he picks up and keeps going, keeping his darker thoguhts to himself.

As the Warrior of Light and Warrior of Darkness his goal is to keep the balance between the Light and the Darkness now that he better understands both concepts. He also wants to learn more about his past life, Azim.

Background

Childhood

Born on the outskirts of the Azim Steppe, Sanom was always around different types of people. He learned early on that there was more to the world beyond the Steppe and waited eagerly for the day that he could go. Sonna completed Bardam's Mettle at the age of sixteen, proving to his family that he was ready for the outside world. His Khan convinced him to wait another year to prepare for his journey and when he turned seventeen he left the Azim Steppe. Sonna travelled through Doma with ease, learning about the culture and its people as he went on. He spent a few months travelling the lands before boarding a ship to cross the ocean.

A Realm Reborn

Sonna reaches Limsa Lominsa and begins his new journey on Eorzean soil. Just beginning his travels, however, he learns that there's far greater danger there than he could've imagined. Taking up arms, he began helping the locals with their troubles. He meets a feline woman, Y'shtola who introduces him to the tale of the Warrior of Light. Thus begins his heroic journey. After meeting Y'shtola she takes him to meet the rest of the Scions of the Seventh Dawn. With them he defeats primals and countless enemies for the greater good. The twins, Alphinaud and Alisaie join the fray and he grows close to them.

As his journey continues he helps Cid and Garlond Ironworks with a mysterious tower near Mor Dhona. During his assignment he meets the Allagan twins as well as G'raha Tia. It doesn't take long for Sonna to grow feelings for G'raha Tia, though he keeps them to himself beacuse of their work. He spends most of his time with the Miqo'te, sparring with him, researching with him, even sharing the same tent with him. When the time comes to seal up the Crystal Tower and G'raha Tia says his fairwell Sonna is distraught. He refuses to leave the Crystal Tower for nearly a week before Alisaie comes to pry him away to help him with his grieving.

The rising threats from the east force Sonna to redirect his attention from his lost friend. The Scions create the Crystal Braves in hopes of strengthaning themselves and ready for battle. The sudden appearance of dragons, however, makes things more difficult. After some time it's found out that some of the Crystal Braves had been bribed and thus turned against the Scions. Due to this, Sonna is blamed for the poisoning and murder of Nanamo, the Sultana of Ul'dah. He flees north, past Coerthas and into Ishgard witht he help of his friends.

Heavensward

Sonna spends his time in Ishgard and the surrounding areas trying to stop a dragon war with the Elezen. While he is partially successful Nidhogg descends upon the city and attacks it. Thanks to his convincing, however, Hraesvelgr swoops in to fight off the foul beast. This gives Sonna and his companions more time to counter. When Estinian is possessed by the evil dragon Sonna fights his hardest to save his friend, nearly dying in the process. In the end Estinian is spared and released of the posession and Nidhogg's eyes are tossed into the depths of a deep canyon.

Stoormblood

Peace is short-lived as Ilberd finds and uses Nidhogg's eyes to summon Shinryu. Thus Sonna's journey to Ala Mhigo beghins. He's upset and distrustful of Lyse who had pretended to be Eda for the entirety of their knowing one another and proceeds to drift away from her, focusing more on the war efforts than their straining friendship. Slowly, though, the two begin to become closer once more, but Sonna still has trouble trusting Lyse when she isn't forethcoming with her plans. When Sonna's journey takes him back to Doma and then the Azim Steppe he's pleased to see his family again. Meeting the Khagan was also an important mark on the man's memories. Aditionally he never thought he would be attending the Naadam, only to give the title of Khagan to the Mols.

Throughout his journey in liberating Doma and Ala Mhigo he meeds Zenos yae Galvus, a formitable foe for the Warrior of Light. The two revil in their battles, attempting to kill one another. Eventually, Sonna succeeds in defeating Zenos, though it is Zenos who takes his own life, please and sated that he'd finally met his match. For Sonna, though this man had been a constant nightmare plaguing him and the Scions, still mourned his death as somewhat of an estranged friend. It wasn't long before he learned, however, that Zenos's body had been desecrated and stolen. He was livid but he had to return to Eorzea to continue fighting the war at the front. It was months of war before he found himself sharing the battlefield with no one other than Zenos himself, though it was clear that it was not in fact, Zenos at all, but an Ascian walking around in his body. The imposter felled Sonna, who then woke up in Ishgard thanks to Estinian's quick saving. He wasted no time in getting back to his feet and returning to Mor Dhona to check in on his fallen friends' conditions. The voice in his head growing ever more persistant. He found himself back at the base of a place that he wasn't sure he was ready to be at, the Crystal Tower.

Shadowbringers

Norverandt was a strange place to get used to for Sonna. It was very different than the Source and he struggled with getting comfortable. Even more strangely was how drawn he was to the Crystal Exarch and his mannerisms. He couldn't help but gravitate towards the man. His mind was pulled away from him temporarily as he reunited with his fellow Scions and took down Lighwarden after Lightwarden, slowly bringing back the night sky to what was left of the First. When Emet-Selch joined teh picture he noticed that he gravitated towards him as well, though it felt more like a kinship than something romantic. As deceptive as the mysterious man was Sonna felt connected to him and usually trusted his words, though the other Scions tried to advise him against it. When it was revealed that the Crystal Exarch had been G'raha Tia all along Sonna's heart soared. Despite the man's so called 'betrayal' he believed that G'raha would never do such a thing and was only trying to push him away for his own good, again, just as he'd done in the past. It was no surprise to Sonna that Emet turned against them, attacking G'raha Tia and challenging Sonna himself. The Warrior of Light wasted no time in battling the Ascian and defeating him, though he did it with a heavy heart.

With the defeat of Emet-Selch the Scions focused on getting home. Sonna turned his aide to help Ryne bring back life in the Empty. He met Gaia this way, and though the girl played tough and mysterious, Sonna had seen this all many times before. Summon after summon they bruoght life back to the Empty and after Ryne decided to summon Shiva unto herself and then nearly lose herself to Hydaelyn Sonna thought it best that they be done for the time being and returned to G'raha Tia. It pained Sonna to see G'raha over-taxing himself to send the Scions home. When Elidibus began to summon Warriors of Light they knew they had to stop him. After the fight with Elidibus G'raha Tia solidified his title of the Crystal Exarch, forever standing watch at the top of the Crystal Tower, his body overcome in crystal....

And thus Sonna's story continues...
