Ellis McNamara, born Chui Li Kim, was born into the Chui family in Malaysia, 1958. A squib through her mother's line, she was homeschooled in magical tutelage through elementary school, then finished her education in a muggle secondary school. Travelling to England on a graduation trip in 1975, she met Oleander McNamara, a pureblood wizard whose family ran a potion ingredient farm in the outskirts of Wales. There began a blossoming romance.
Ellis extended her stay in England, and she and Oleander travelled through the wizarding United Kingdom briefly before returning to her hometown, together, with the intention to get approval from her parents. Oleander had always been distant from his single mother, having lost his father in his early teens, and with no other siblings. Unfortunately, Ellis' parents were not open to her choice in partner. Thus, Ellis and Oleander left that country, deciding to marry in Australia and to start a new life there. It was mid 1977.
It was decidedly short lived, as an incident with a lethifold ended Oleander's life early in 1978. Newly widowed, Ellis travels back to the United Kingdom, settling down in the West Country of England.
