🤖 Micah 🤖

Micah was originally AV-500, a barista at a local cafe called Toni’s Android Cafe which prided itself in being the first all android staffed cafe in Detroit. He was rotated with several other of the same models, some being female or male and each one having a different hair color. They were all specially ordered to give off a comfortable feeling in the cafe. Micah was known as Blond Male AV-500 until the cafe opened and people began ordering. Some friendly customers (specifically someone who would become Micah’s friend named Pepper) came in and disliked not being able to call them by name. Each Android was given a nickname which the owner allowed as the customers would come back and be friendly with them if they felt connected to them. Micah was given his name first since he and Pepper had slowly become friends throughout her visits.

Working in customer service was definitely not an ideal job. Especially when people already didn’t like androids much. He may have had ‘Micah’ now on his name tag but to the rest of the customers he was ‘plastic’. Business men and women would come in, trying to quickly get some coffee, yell they were too slow, pitch a fit and threaten to tell the owner his androids were broken. Some did tell the owner that. Brunette female AV-500 (Hailey) was the first to be replaced. She had told a woman that she had not messed up her order and that it might have been that the woman had told her the wrong order.

That was not the right thing to say to her.

The next day, Hailey was gone, taken away by the owner to either be repaired of straight up trashed. No one knew. Next was black haired male AV-500 (Roman) who was physically assaulted by a man and when he tried to defend himself it was caught on camera. He was also taken the next day. 

The night of the break in, several masked men came into the shop and broke several of the androids, stealing what they could and spray painting anti-android graffiti all over the walls and tables. The owner couldn’t do it anymore, he couldn’t risk having androids anymore or else this would keep happening. He couldn’t just throw them all away; he would be bankrupt. He settled for trying to sell the androids on and some of the customers pitched in to buy them. Micah was purchased by Pepper and a few of her friends since he was so expensive. They also bought a few more, Ginger male AV-500 (Alex), black haired male (Samuel), and blond female AV-500 (Maria).

Living with Pepper and her friends was more difficult than they imagined. Especially when they found out that what his old owner had done was illegal. He wasn’t a house keeping model; he wasn’t programmed to live in a home with a family, he was for commercial use only. Pepper didn’t know what to do. She couldn’t give them up, they were people, her friends. If the police found out about them; they would be taken and recycled. She and her friends spoke about it for days before they realized they should ask the androids themselves. Alex and Maria wanted to stay together but they wanted to try their luck in Canada. Them leaving was a hard hit for the family but they constantly sent messages back to them. They did indeed manage to get to Canada and started a new life for themselves. Micah and Samuel wanted to stay together with the family. They had become very close friends and wouldn’t leave them behind.

Micah was incredibly terrified of being found. He had seen what would happen to him, he couldn’t risk it. He changed his hair color, he dressed in all black, he covered his mouth, everything he could to lay low as much as possible. His companion also wore a mask because during the break in, his jaw had been broken and constantly kept a huge smile on his face which was unnerving to look at. 

But their family was perfect. Micah, Samuel, Pepper, Sarah, Yuri and Lucas, two androids and four humans. What could go wrong?
