[Personality]

Swift takes their work as a Prey Hunter seriously, rarely stopping to take breaks until 'enough' work has been done in their eyes. 'All work and no play' might be an apt description for the Prey Hunter. Though generally quiet, and often found alone, it would be a mistake to assume that this cat is shy. Confident and intelligent, Swift is not afraid to voice their thoughts when they think it's needed, no matter how controversial or insensitive they may be.
This cat is incredibly loyal to their friends, family and, most importantly, their Tribe. 'The Tribe trumps all' is their mantra, and they refuse to consider a cat friend or family if they aren't aligned with their Tribe. The Tribe's laws and traditions, they hold to as scripture, and anyone caught breaking them will quickly learn why they too should hold to them as Swift does.

[Opinions and Beliefs]

Superstitious: "Do I believe in spirits and the like? Of course, but I'm not a Healer, so I don't expect to see them."

Who Deserves to Be Heir: "Someone who takes the position of Path Finder seriously. Someone who will do their best to look after the Tribe. I would make a good Heir."
Prey Hunters: "Well, I am one, so it's not like my opinion wouldn't be positive. We make sure the Tribe is fed, so the others had better appreciate us."
Claw Guards: "I can't believe I was foolish enough to think I could ever be one of them. I respect the work they do."
Healers: "Without these cats, we wouldn't live long. I'm thankful for their work and care."
The Tribe as A Whole: "If my view of the Tribe wasn't positive, I wouldn't be here."

[History]

[Kithood 0-8 moons]

[Swift will be refered to by the feminine pronouns for this section]

Roar of Falling Water and Dappled Moonlight in the Forest were first-time parents when they had Swift her siblings. Acquaintances from kithood, the two grew to become close friends as they advanced into their respective roles as Claw Guard and Prey Hunter, and moons after that, they became mates.
The kits were born in early new-leaf, healthy and strong, despite just coming from leaf-bare - a sign, Forest had said, of the good moons to come. The little calico was born alongside her black and white patched brother and ginger sister. She was the smallest of her littermates, and was often pushed aside by the loud, larger she-kit during feeding. It seemed clear early on that she wouldn't grow into a fighter as, though she tried to push back, the other she-kit wasn't even shifted by her attempts. Their mother named her Flight of Soaring Swift, for she belived her smallest kit would be fast and tireless like the ever-flying birds. The tom was named Sunlight Dancing on a Lake after what Forest saw as his gentle nature, and the ginger kit was named Cry of Angered Wolf because of her fierce cry and the strength she posessed.
Swift has fond memories of her early kithood, of days spent playing without a care in the world. Prey would be brought to her and siblings without having to raise a paw, and their safety and health were handled by the Claw Guards and Healers. Her biggest worry at the time was avoiding Wolf's rough style of playing.

As she grew older and she and her siblings were allowed to explore more of the cave, Swift became enthralled by the Claw Guards. From the tales of their feats in battle, to watching them and their To-bes training, the kit wanted to be as strong as she saw them. Her favourite game of "catch the feather" was replaced by play fighting, which the young Swift took much too seriously in her mother's eyes. Once, what had started as a fun game had decended into a flurry of claws and angry yowling about how Wolf "wasn't playing fair!". Both kits were scolded as they got their cuts tended to by the Healers. Swift accepted their admonishments, though still bitter about the situation, refused to play fight with Wolf for a while after that.
Her relationship with her brother went a lot more smoothly. He was more considerate than his other littermates, and was easy to get along with. Their play fighting never got too intense, and, because of her size, he had learned to let her best him in quite a few of their games. He valued their friendship over winning, unlike Wolf. She wasn't pleased after discovering that she had been deceived, (this happened sometime during her training as a To-be) but she was willing to put it behind her and she still appreciated the tom's concern for her.

[To-Be 8-19 moons]

[Both feminine and neutral pronouns will be used from here on out]

Nobody was surprised Swift followed in her father's pawsteps to train as a Claw Guard along with her sister. The first moon and a half as a To-be was horrible. Though fast and agile, the young cat had poor battle sense. Training helped with that, but she was always behind her peers, no matter how hard she worked. That coupled with her lack of strength made her stick out when she was being bested by cats that were younger than her. It was during her second moon of training that Swift decided that the life of a Claw Guard wasn't for her. She wanted to help the Tribe as best as she could; continuing down this path would make her into a mediocre fighter at best, and that wasn't something she would accept.
After talking with her parents about her options, the young calico decided that hunting for the Tribe was best suited for her. The issue was then taken to Speakers for the Claw Guards and Prey Hunters, where she was allowed to change the course of her life.

Being about two moons behind their new peers, Swift had to work a lot harder to try and catch up. Luckily, they had the support of Forest and Sunlight. Their brother was especially helpful, willingly and patiently joining the smaller cat with all the extra training they wanted. Before long, Swift was on par with the other To-bes in their age range and still looking to improve.
The next few moons were largely uneventful for the calico To-be. They joined their brother and the other Prey Hunters and To-bes for the usual training sessions and practiced alone or in small groups when there was time. The progess and growth Swift saw in themself helped to bolster their confidence in the choice they'd made. The path of a Prey Hunter was certainly the right one for them; they would have made a poor, miserable as a Claw Guard, and their skill would have been wasted had they chosen to become a Healer.

Though Swift's littermates both completed their Quests before them, when the time came for them to take part in the Quest of Belonging, Swift was calm and filled with certainty that the group would return successfully. They were about 19 moons at the time, and it happened during a rainy leaf-fall, when the weather was already beginning to turn cold.
The journey up the mountain went well, as expected. The worst anyone had to deal with was the cold, and they could huddle or keep moving to fix that. For Swift, the most nerve-wracking part was the journey back. During the night they spent in the small cave their ancestors had sheltered all those moons ago, they thought about life as a full Tribe member. Would it be as good as they'd imagined? Wolf and Sunlight seemed to think so, but then, they weren't the same cats. Those two had chosen their ranks out of passion, but Swift chose because of necessity. Would they grow to resent that choice? If they did, what could they do? The Tribe came first, before their own personal worries, but those worries could end up affecting their usefulness.
The trip back went a little quicker and was, surprisingly, more eventful. Distracted by this new sense of unease, Swift's hunting suffered. They missed mice that even a Claw Guard could catch, and their only kill on the way back was a messily caught pigeon. Despite these misteps, the other To-bes were supportive for the most part. They made it back successfully, and were fully accepted into the Tribe.

[Prey Hunter | 19+ moons]

Swift adjusted well into life as a full Prey Hunter, though the worries of regretting their decision never went away fully. When there was work to be done, Swift was there, putting their all into the task, no matter how mundane. They volunteered for patrols and offered to train with the To-bes whenever they could. Sunlight often had to help temper their workaholic nature, reminding them to take things easy every once in a while.
All in all, the calico enjoyed their work, and found great satisfaction in providing for the Tribe. For the time, it seemed like this was, without a doubt, the best thing for them to be doing. They were good at what they did and hunting, they'd found, was a very enjoyble task when the prey was plentiful. When it wasn't, testing their skills made for a good challenge, so long as no cat risked starving.
In the future, Swift hopes to become a Speaker one day, or maybe even Path Finder, though they'd prefer for those roles to remain filled. Knowing that that's a naive thing to hope for, this cat works with those goals in mind. Everything they do needs to be for the good of the Tribe, so they prepare for that unfortunate day, should it come while they still live.

[Prey Hunter | The Fires ~39+ moons]

Despite the warnings, Swift was unprepared, like many in the Tribe when the fires came. The weather had been oddly warm even as the usually colder moons approached. That had been the first warning. The next came in the form of cats bringing news from their patrols. They warned the Path Finder, but he would not listen. Perhaps it was pride, or a stubbornness that came with age which lead to his decision. Whatever it was, the choice cost lives, as the Tribe was forced to flee from the flames. During the flight, Swift came to the aid of a kitten - Bone in Wolf's Den - who had lost sight of their family in the rush. The fact that she chose to carry them spoke to how dire the situation had become. She wasn't the strongest cat in the Tribe, but everything was too fast, too chaotic, to look for someone else.
Once they arrived at the thicket - their new home - Swift was beyond relived when they found the kit's mother. Too many cats had been lost, and the calico didn't want to think about what would have happened if they hadn't found her. With Wolf safe, and the knowledge that not all the family was here yet, Swift offered to help look for the others. Their ancestors had put this kit in their path instead of one of their own family members. They took that as sign that they were meant to help his family out. And maybe it was, as Swift's parents and siblings made it out safely without their help.
Though Swift was left physically unscathed after the fires, they still left a mark on the Prey Hunter. Once, they had been content to follow their Path Finder without much question. He had been chosen by the Tribe of Endless Hunting, so he could - and should - be trusted. But watching as he endagered the Tribe changed the Prey Hunter's views somewhat. At first, they tried to continue as normal, hoping that this had been a one off occurance, but after time, they found that it wasn't something that could be ignored. Still, they were hesitant to speak openly about these troubles, fearing that it would cause division within the Tribe.

[Other Trivial Things]

Is very losely based on an old oc, design wise. Would have just been a revamp, but without the male calico ban, that didn't feel posible.
