Light

Backstory

Light was born in a small house, near a small a town and a forest. She lived with her mother and father. Her mom was a housewife that would sometimes knit clothes and sell them in the town. Light’s dad worked as a waiter in a small café in the same town.

When Light was around ten, her dad didn’t return home one day and disappeared completely. Little Light was planning on leaving home and look for him to try and either find him or find out where he went. However, she learned that her mom was pregnant. That made Light change her mind. She didn’t want to leave her mom alone in her predicament, so she stayed and did her best to take care of her mother.

The pregnancy didn’t go too well and by the ninth month, Light’s mother had to be brought to a hospital. She died during childbirth, when Light was 11. Light now had a little sister – Sugar. Light was scared that her and her sister might get separated in the orphanage due to age difference, and she wouldn’t have any family left, so after their mother’s funeral, she took Sugar and returned home.

For the next six years Light took care of Sugar, trying her best to give her sister proper childhood. Light took up knitting, like her mother, in order to sell clothes for living. When Sugar was old enough, she started helping around the house.

When Light was around 16, a civil war started. At first it was just something she heard about on the radio, but one day, there was a raid on the town the sisters lived near, and the raid soon came to their house as well. Light managed to hide her sister in the forest in the bushes. She then distracted the raiders from where Sugar was hiding, but got shot in the process and died.

Since Light was a very caring person and had a lot of love to give, she became a guardian angel, losing all her memories of ever being a mortal. Angels usually don’t become guardians for their former family members, but the bond between the sisters was so strong, Light became an exception and became Sugar’s guardian. Light guarded her for the rest of her life (for 72 years).

When Sugar died of old age, Light became a guardian for a newly born Anna. That was a big change from Sugar, who was a big sweetheart, as Anna’s personality started to change for the worst when she became 12. Adding to that, Anna had some health issues because of her powers, which was the reason her parents made some mistakes in her upbringing. Due to her behavior, Anna started to get into trouble a lot, which often put her in danger. It made Light consider breaking some rules and maybe get Anna to make better life decisions. That ended in a plop – Light ended up angering the guardian of Anna’s crush for putting Amura in danger and no progress was made.

Eventually, Anna realized that her being constantly angry and defensive wasn’t the best way to live. She slowly started to change, becoming more open and friendly. That made Light realize that sometimes it’s better to let people learn from their mistakes and let them change their mind on their own, as it’s way more effective than forcing them to take action- oh, is that why no one stopped her from trying to make Anna open up about her feelings? Huh.

By the time Anna graduated high school she became a way better person and stopped getting into trouble on a daily basis. That gave Light more free time. Since she really craves interaction and creating lasting relationships with people is risky, Light ends up feeling really lonely for the most part, so she spends all that free time in her physical form in different cities, getting something to eat and hang around people. Even just walking down a busy street makes her feel less lonely. Sometimes she communicates with people and tries to form friendships without giving out her identity (which is difficult, because she hates lying) and without acting clingy or desperate.

Personality

Light is easily excited and often shows her feelings through body language, like waving her tail or bouncing on her feet. She's really curious (sometimes too much, she might invade people's privacy and snoop around their things). She's naturally cautious around people, often coming off as shy, but as soon as you gain her trust (which is pretty easy) - she'll be all over you, asking anything she finds even remotely interesting to her about you, while not really talking much about herself. As soon as Light comes to trust someone, she tends to let her guard down and becomes naive, so she becomes vulnerable to betrayal. She's very touch starved, but rarely initiates physical contact. Light is very caring and will do anything for those she cares about. Guns and loud and/or sudden noises make her panic. Likes to swim in different bodies of water and being barefeet in hot weather. Will eat almost anything. 

Light respects the rules as long as she agrees with them. As soon as she decides that going against them would do more good, she does her own thing without hesitation and gets very confused and offended if she gets punished/yelled at/etc. for doing so.

Abilities

Can cook alright, but cannot bake. At all. Can knit. Light has potential to be a very good light bender, as she had these abilities when she was alive and they got boosted by the fact that all angels have light bending powers. However, she never really trained herself to do anything with them when she was alive, and as an angel she doesn't think she really needs any offensive power. So, currently, she can only use her powers for slight illumination and to create pretty special effects.

What is a guardian angel?

The purpose of a guardian angel is to make sure their ward lives until their natural death, to keep them safe from dangers and fatal accidents. They can’t reveal themselves or make their actions obvious. They also can’t have a say in how their ward behaves or what path they choose. For an angel, the only concern should be their safety. However, angels have the ability to become corporeal and look like normal mobians. While it’s not allowed for angels to become close with the ward or people close to them, angels are allowed to physically intervene if the situation is dire and there’s a way to make their presence look natural.

The angels are people who died and got reincarnated. To become a guardian a person has to be very selfless and caring. When an angel is born, all of their memories of their past lives are wiped. That happens because, due to their caring nature, future angels often die young by trying to protect someone. A lot of future angels also don’t have the happiest life. If angels kept their memories, more than a half of them would have emotional and/or mental issues, which would interfere with their job of taking care of their ward.

The wings and halo are made from concentrated light energy, so they give off a glow. If you were to touch them, you’d feel air, but way thicker and warmer.

All angels have transparent bracelets on their wrists that cannot be removed. They are made of the same energy as their wings and halo, but more concentrated. To touch they feel like rubber. These bracelets can glow and be used for illumination. It’s a way for angels to recognize one another when not in their angel forms.

All angels have decent healing and light bending abilities that they can use in both forms. They can sense when their ward is in danger and teleport to them in an instant, even if they’re on another planet.
