Personality

Ezra is a cold and calculating leyr with a penchant for the extravagant. He puts on a calm and collected exterior whenever he can- detached and in control at all times. He hates to lose his control in front of others, especially those he doesn't trust. He has a short fuse when it comes to his patience being tested and when he cracks he lashes out and inflicts damage- be it verbal or physical or otherwise.

Background

Early Life

Ezra prefers to keep his early history shrouded in mystery in order to preserve his image. He came from nothing and clawed his way up from that by using his wits to manipulate his way thorugh life. Despite his cold outward dimeanor he was able to draw loyalty from his acquaintances, collecting a following even as just a young teen living on the streets.

 

Blue Iris

As his following grew so did his endevors; his small close and personal gang growing rapidly into a larger organized operation. Within three years he had gone from a kid on the streets to a respected boss pulling the strings in a sizable crime ring he had taken to calling the Blue Iris. Within another year he had even climbed in status among the society of Ichorrai. He revelled in the good life, indulging heavily in the riches and extravagancies he could now afford.

His indulgence in the good life started to grate on one of his closest followers, a large rrex who had always held Ezra on a pedestal all their lives together. He hated seeing Ezra so full of himself and throwing his riches around, steadily growing more and more bitter and stewing in his anger. It all came to a head one day when he instigated an argument with Ezra over it, and effectively got himself expelled from the gang. He was livid- Ezra had barely batted an eye when he cast him out- and in a sudden wild surge of fury attacked Ezra.

The other gang members were too slow to stop the rrex before he could mutilate Ezra- tearing off his wing before he could be fought off by the others.

 

Post-Injury

Losing his wing nearly cost Ezra his life, it was only due to the fast action of his remaining loyal gang members that he got the medical help he needed to live. He survived, and through sheer furiously stubborn willpower he rushed his recovery to ensure that he kept his iron grip of power and leadership over the Blue Iris gang. His personality changed drastically after the betrayal. When he once had been almost bratty and fussy around his loyal circle, he now fully adopted his cold exterior around anyone and everyone.

Scarred by the betrayal he realized he couldn't put his trust in anyone anymore. His inner circle of his closest followers vanished overnight, never to be seen again. Ezra even refused the repeated suggestions to let a ptheran healer help him regrow his lost wing; unwilling to trust one enough to get so near to him, or let the long regrowth process weaken him for even a moment.

 

Current Day

The changes Ezra made to his gang after losing his wing were drastic and extreme. People he had once counted among his closest members vanished mysteriously, replaced by new faces that enforced his every will and command. He reformed the gang into something more dignified- from a gang that prowled the streets extorting merchants and shop owners with droves of pickpockets, he turned his eye toward higher ambitions.

He established the tea lounge first. A classy destination for anyone with enough riches to afford the entry fee, and for those willing to pay a little extra on top, the lounge offered an extra luxury- drugs. The main course being hallucinogens created from tolka treacle, offering the lounge's guests an extra pleasurable visit at the generosity of their opened wallets.

The Blue Iris had turned its attention fully toward the manufacture and distribution of drugs crafted from both the miasma and the treacle excreted from tolka. Ezra doesn't allow for the poaching of live tolka parts- only seeking the contribution of live tolka. At the same time he also won't accept any tolka into the Blue Iris syndicate unless they contribute- but when they do they're treated well as incentive to keep them around. The few tolka capable of producing treacle are given even higher treatment, but only so long as they contribute.

When the lounge was a booming success Ezra turned to the other possibilities to be found in the treacle, beginning to manufacture stimulants as well as the hallucinogenics. But a tea lounge was no place for the stimulants to be used, and simply selling them on the streets was hardly a worthy use of his time- so he turned his focus toward setting up an underground fighting ring where those stimulants could be put to good use; Organized fights where onlookers could place bets, and the fighters would shell out for the drugs needed to win the fight and lay claim to the hefty prize purse. With the added addition of the fighting ring Ezra's syndicate now held the power that he had always sought.
