Patches once found a penny on the ground whilst on a ride. It was on a dusty trail, so he seemed to think himself quite lucky for finding it. He then carried it around very carefully in his teeth the rest of the trip. Every minor inconvenience he avoided, from not seeing a car on the way home to avoiding climbing a particularly steep hill, further convinced him that the penny was special. When he was finally discovered holding it, he outright refused to let anyone to get their hands on it. It was his lucky penny! He'd never had a lucky thing before!
He's been left to keep it as long as he doesn't try eating it. So, he keeps it in a special place in his stall and will often visit it. When taken out, he'll usually grab his penny first
