❝ ABOUT.

PERSONALITY.

Saoirse Ó Luain looks withdrawn and distant at first, but she can be friendly and sweet once she warms up to people, and when she does, Saoirse can never let them go easily. She’s an artist and can sometimes be seen sketching in her sketchbook; although she used to paint with watercolors too, due to financial reasons, she isn’t able to do so for some time. Besides drawing, Saoirse’s also an amazing cook, always willing to cook for her friends or even help them with cooking. Due to her previously being a housemaid at the Barkenwell Manor, Saoirse developed a liking for cleaning messy places and loves having everything neat. Despite her seemingly laid-back nature, she would plan ways she and her friends could fight the British and dreams of a liberated and free Ireland, hence she’s hostile towards Britain.

BACKGROUND.

Saoirse was born in Celbridge, co. Kildare, to a low-class family and was the only child. Although she didn’t have friends as a child, her parents were there for her. Family tragedy struck when Saoirse’s father was beaten up by drunk policemen and not long after died from injuries; she was only ten years old when it all happened. This resulted in her and her mother moving to Dublin to find a better life. A year later, when Saoirse was nearly 10, and after nearly a year of struggling to make ends meet, Mrs. Ó Luain started working as a housemaid for the Lord of Kilford - a wealthy English earl residing in the southern part of Dublin city at the Barkenwell Manor and only Juliet Darnell, Countess of Kilford was kind to them; Lord of Kilford looked down on his Irish servants and the earl’s two children, especially the daughter, Lady Florence, treated Saoirse terribly. Luckily for her, the household staff loved her and her mother, accepting them the moment they came. One of the footmen, John O’Keefe, was particularly playful and friendly with Saoirse who saw her as his daughter - and no wonder, he was harboring a crush on her mother. Around 1907, John and Mrs. Ó Luain married, meaning Saoirse became John’s stepdaughter. But life didn’t treat them well; tragedy struck again in 1911 when Saoirse’s mother passed away from an illness, devastating her and her stepfather. Due to mistreatment at Barkenwell Manor from the Darnell, especially Thomas, Viscount of Blackham who creeped her out with his womanizing behavior, Saoirse couldn’t wait to leave. In 1913 Saoirse met Cathleen, a milliner who shared similar ideals with her, and they quickly become friends. Three years later, in the late January of 1916, Saoirse was finally able to leave her job and moved in with Cathleen. That same day she met Alastar and formed an acquaintance, not knowing just how strong their friendship will become in the future.
