She can activate her quirk by looking at someone. Her quirk lasts as long as she can see someone without blinking, but she has trained her eyes to blink separately. She can do anything as small as making an object invisible or something as large as turning their whole vision into technicolor shapes. However, she can only do it to one person at a time.
Using her signature move, Kelaidoscope, can cause major nausia and a migraine to the target, but it will often also cause it to herself.
History:
She was born to her mother and father on December 21st in New York, USA, as the second and last child in her family. Her father decided that a domestic home-life wasn't what he wanted. He left without a word to anyone. Her mother went through the divorce process and they were cut off from him forever. Her father was everything short of physical abuse, and she still resents him to this day.
At the age of 17, Minami left America to move in with her grandparents in Japan. Her mother soon decided to follow her, moving in close to her parents. That is when Minami transferred to UA. She transferred into the general studies class, since her quirk didn't hold up well during the preliminary testing, not working against robotics.
She moved up to the hero course during her first sports festival, joining Mirio and Tamaki in their third year. She worked as an intern for her work study, under Fatgum and Suneater. She spent many of her school days patrolling with the large hero, listening to him talk about his favorite food places around and his favorite places to eat. They spent a lot of time in a small park in Osaka.
In that time, she fell in love with Taishiro, but knew she couldn't act on it, it wouldn't be right. She graduated from UA (age 19) and stopped talking to Taishiro until she became a hero he would be proud of.
She became a small town hero, working under the police force for 4 years. During one of the meetings, she found herself involved with Hawks, who ended up leaving her later down the line because he felt he was too much and his life was too wrapped up in work. It had been a passionate romance, but it seemed it was nothing more than lust for a few months.
They stayed friends, and he invited her to a party he threw for the top 100 billboard heroes. It was her first year being on the top 100, so she was ecstatic to go.
That's where she ran into Taishiro.
