One day, Khalid woke up with no memory of who he was, where he was, or where he was from. All he had with him were the clothes on his back, as well as his crown, crystral sword, and a blank journal with "Property of Prince Khalid" scrawled on the inside cover in messy handwriting. He assumed this to belong to him, thus leading him to believe he was this "Prince Khalid," though he had no idea what that would mean for him.
He wandered the forest he woke up in until he came across a city, which he excitedly entered in the hopes of learning more about himself and where he's from. It didn't go as planned, unfortunately, as the townsfolk seemed very hostile towards him and chased him out of the city. He was forced to take shelter in the forest again, hiding from lingering, angry townsfolk and strange monsters alike.
It was many weeks before he came across a travelling scholar that responded to him in a much friendlier manner than any other person before. Relieved by this, Khalid informed this scholar of his struggles, and was thus invited to live with them. He accepted the offer without question, though he would come to regret it later when the scholar turned out to be using him to further their own, cruel plans.
It wasn't until Khalid came across a young Wyvern that he learned of the scholar's true intentions, and that the errands he was so often sent out on turned out to be nothing more than the dirty work for human experimentation. Upon returning home, he confronted the scholar about his findings, only for them to grow angry, and lock him in a cellar he didn't even know they had.

PERSONALITY
Khalid is very kindhearted and empathetic. He tries to do everything he can to make sure others are happy and safe, even if it causes him any level of discomfort. He is prone to making or buying expensive gifts for those he's close to, nobility or commoner alike. As Prince, he takes it upon himself to hold large charity events multiple times a year.
Despite his kindness, however, he is also very, very stubborn. Once he has made a decision, very little can dissuade him. He thinks fairly highly of himself, and as such can easily take offense to minor disrespects. He doesn't tolerate the belittling of his friends and family, either.
STORY
THE WHITE WYVERN ROARS
Khalid, Prince of Wyverns, is the first white scaled Wyvernfolk born in 284 years. His parents, Queen Haitena and King Kraspar, rejoiced at the sight of their new son's glittering scales, for legend told that the White Wyverns were harbingers of prosperity and peace. For 24 years, they worked to raise him into a kind and caring ruler, teaching him everything they knew about upholding peace within and around their small kingdom.
Prince Khalid grew up handsomely, determined to make sure his people knew nothing but peace and prosperity. As he grew older, he began to organize charity events and work to open orphanages and Wyvern hatcheries. The citizens of Draconia loved him all the more for it, and the entire Kingdom would rejoice at the announcement of a new project.
THE LOST WYVERN
Near his 25th birthday, Khalid suddenly finds himself in an unfamiliar land, with no memories of his past. Confused, disoriented, and knowing nothing of himself aside from name alone, he began to wander the strange lands he would later come to know as the nation of Meraridia. By this point in time, the Wyvern Prince has been missing from his home for nearly six months, and his parents were furious. In their search for their lost son, the King and Queen of Draconia had begun to swiftly take over neighboring kingdoms, including that of Meraridia. Due to the sudden hostility of the once peaceful Kingdom of Draconia, citizens of Meraridia began to harbor a deep hatred for Wyvernfolk, which they unleashed fully onto Khalid as soon as he entered the city of Yhore. Unyielding in their rage, the cityfolk immediately chased him away, leaving him to struggle alone in a nearby forest.
Khalid managed to survive on his own for somewhere around three weeks, fending off unfamiliar and hostile wildlife with nothing but a single, crystal sword. He soon happened upon a traveling Scholar, who, instead of showing the usual hostility Khalid had quickly grown familiar with, offered him a place of refuge, in exchange for completing minor errands for the Scholar. Khalid was more than happily to accept this arrangement, as he feared he wouldn't last much longer against the strange creatures in the forests. The Scholar had him complete many different tasks, usually consisting of gathering various, mysterious ingredients. However, occasionally they would request that he capture a specific person, claiming them to be a nefarious criminal. Khalid believed him, as he had no reason to doubt the motives of his mysterious caretaker. That is, until he came across a golden Wyvern during his travels. She informed him of the nature of the Scholar's requests, and upon Khalid's stunned protests, urged him to speak with them on the matter. Disturbed by the possibility of his caretaker using him in aid of human experimentation, Khalid returned home to speak of the issue directly.
WYVERN'S BETRAYAL
After confronting the Scholar about what he had heard, Khalid was quickly reassured that nothing of the sort was happening. They informed him that they simply were practicing their potionmaking, and that any and all people that he had been asked to apprehend were swiftly turned over to the law. Khalid was relieved to hear this, and went to bed that night wondering why anyone, but especially a Wyvern would attempt to spread such lies. He would soon realize that the golden Wyvern had been right. He awoke the next morning muzzled and in chains, thrown into a small cage inside of a dark cellar. His attempts to break free from his confines were unsuccessful, and soon cut short by the appearance of the Scholar themselves. He was horrified to then learn it was the Scholar that had thrown him in chains, under the claim that he now "knew too much." After that, the Scholar left him alone for several days, reappearing only once he was weakened to drag him off to the Karian Empire, where he was then sold on a black market auction...

RELATIONSHIPS
PERIGRINNE
ADOPTED AUNTIE
Perigrinne is a Wyvernfolk woman hired by the Draconian King and Queen as an Executioner, but Khalid wasn't aware of that until he turned 15. Instead, he knew her only as the sweet lady his parents let live in the castle. Despite not being related at all, Khalid considers her to be family, and affectionately refers to her as either "Auntie" or "Auntie Peri," even after he grows older and learns the truth of her employment.
HEADCANONS
- Perigrinne sculpts Wyvern figurines for Khalid every year for his birthday. Khalid adores them well into adulthood.
- Khalid once took Perigrinne to a fancy diner in downtown Zronard! He still considers this to be one of the best days of his life.
- Khalid once tried to knit her a scarf, but the end product was so unsalvagable it had to be scrapped. He was depressed for weeks.
KING KRASPAR AND QUEEN HAITENA
PARENTS
The current rulers of the Kingdom of Draconia were determined to make sure their son lived a full life, and grew up happy and healthy. They did everything in their power to teach him how to be a peaceful and fair king. It seems they did their job well.
HEADCANONS
- King Kraspar personally trained Khalid in the art of swordfighting, and eventually commissioned the forging of the crystal sword the Prince now keeps at his side.
- Queen Haitena tried to teach Khalid how to wield magic, only to quickly learn that her water based affinity made teaching difficult, as he had a storm and wind based affinity. She eventually conceded and hired a tutor with a similar affinity to her son.
- The King and Queen held a festival after their son's birth, to celebrate the birth of the first white-scaled Wyvernfolk in generations.
THE SCHOLAR
CARETAKER?
Khalid's feelings on this individual are... complex. He once regarded them with great respect, and loved them almost like family, until the day they betrayed him and sold him off.
