Matthew owns a book very similar to that of Stinky. The topic is different and while its pull is just as strong, it doesn't sway him as much as it does the other sheep.
He's well aware that Stinky is his better, which is why he won't oppose him. Still, he antagonises him as much as he reasonably can without risking himself.
