Before the fall of Overwatch, Scarlett and Julie were inseperable. Scarlett often worked to protect Julie in more field oriented research, being a quick thinker and rather observant, it was a job she was well-suited for. Eventually, Scarlett asked Julie to date her, and Julie agreed, thinking that it was what she had to do as a functional member of society, even though, despite caring immensely for the fox fighter, she was never romantically attracted to Scarlett.

Now that Scarlett has joined Talon, Julie's opinion of her has changed entirely. She dislikes Scarlett immensely, distrusting her in all things. She believes that it was Scarlett who sent Reaper to kill her. Deep down, she hopes she can one day have her friend back, especially now that she has a lable for how she identifies, but she refuses to acknowledge these hopes.

Red | Pet

Julie bought Red as an egg shortly after Overwatch's fall, deciding that a pet chicken would help her out with her emotional trauma, and around the orchard as a whole. She adores Red, to the point that she celebrates Red's birthday each year with a special dinner and a new toy. After arriving at Gibraltar her first insistence was that they pick up Red from the orchard, as she couldn't bring the hen through legal channels as fast as she and some saplings she already had approval to bring over borders could.

STORY

Doctor Julie Applebloom was an Overwatch scientist before the fall of the organisation, prioritising work with with GMOs, particularly in regards to apple trees. She fiddled with the genetics of the trees, wanting to create an apple that provided most of the nutrients a human needed. After Overwatch’s collapse, she started a ranch alone to continue her research, and have a space for herself. She took up some vigilante work on the side as well - nothing extreme. She’d never go looking for trouble, but if she saw it coming she’d always have her baseball bat ready to smack anyone who tried to start anything.

When the recall came out, she ignored it initially, thinking that it was more trouble than necessary. She was content on her orchard, she didn't need to go back to them. What could a scientist add anyway? But Winston’s message nagged at the back of her mind, until it all came to a head. Reaper, sent to kill former Overwatch agents, attacked her while she was out shopping for gardening equipment. He got civilians involved when he realised she wasn't going down without a fight. He clawed her badly, leaving her bleeding and scarred, but she barely won the confrontation thanks to what she thought was a failed experiment - her acidic apples, which burned through his glove after he accidentally pierced the skin of one with his claws. As he retreated, she realised staying out of the mess wasn’t going to fix anything, and that she had to help. She got together her things and a few saplings, and set off for Watchpoint: Gibraltar that night.

Now, she fights in the field with the other recalled agents of Overwatch under the name of Gala, utilising her experiments to help them on the field, and using her trusty bat to defend herself when her team cannot.
