Ravi is a merchant and a poet. He travels between cities with his business partner and fiancé Herb, looking for new customers and wares. Ravi chose the merchant life for the travel. He'd always wanted to be a poet, but felt that he could never gain inspiration while cooped up in the stuffy halls of his childhood home. So, at the first possible opportunity, Ravi hit the road in hopes of finding his muse in new and exciting places.

Ravi grew up in the relatively advanced desert city of Pradesh Hold, sheltered but pressured by his aristocratic family who trained him (to little avail) to be a diplomat and a warmage like both of his parents were. They had an entire life planned out for him, and he hated it. That changed when he had a chance encounter while visiting his uncle in the local hospital; a recovering surgery patient fainted in the plaza and Ravi caught him and waited by him until he regained consciousness. While recuperating, the patient, named Herb, discussed with Ravi his career plans. He'd recently taken out a loan on a wagon with the intent of being a traveling merchant and adventurer. This caught Ravi's attention, and they agreed to meet up again before Herb left Pradesh and discuss a potential partnership. Ravi was exhilarated by the idea of having a ticket out of his family's grasp, a chance to finally chase his muse... But deep down there was another feeling of excitement within him, one focused less on the job and more about the man he was going to be doing it with.

Ravi is a sorcerer, which means he was born with magical capabilities. Only very few groups of humans are capable of being born sorcerers, so Ravi's family is rather stuck up about it. While he enjoys his powers, he most frequently uses them for practicality and absolutely does not want to be a warmage like his mother and father are, instead holding a firm set of pacifistic principles. His favorite spells are to conjure fire and to create a Mage Hand.

Ravi has ADHD. He doesn't know this, both due to the story setting calling for a less sophisticated knowledge of the human mind, and due to the fact that he was diagnosed with the crude-approximation equivalent... But his parents just never told him.
