Lucien Robensmith

Bio- Lucien had been an accident. His mother is a prostitute, and he doesn’t even know who his father is. He and his mother really struggled financially while he was growing up. While she worked a lot, they still had a hard time making ends meet. The worst part about all of this for Lucian was that his mother would bring her clients back home with her. Of course, Lucien didn’t want to be in the same apartment while this was happening, so he would usually stay outside during the nights when his mother brought a client home. There was a small park right next to his apartment complex that he would go to and lay out and stare at the stars. He was in love with staring up at them. They were so beautiful and so interesting to him. Naturally he wanted to learn more about them. So he started studying astronomy in his spare time. It became his passion to learn about outer space and all of the wonders and the science behind it all. Being a bright kid, he took to it quickly and he never stopped trying to learn. 

His relationship with his mother had been a complicated one. While Lucien does really love her and wants to make sure she’s keeping out of too much trouble, he can’t help but hold some resentment towards her due to her job. Though, he realizes that without this job, he wouldn’t have been able to fall in love with the stars which have become such a big part of his life. The two have a very honest relationship with each other, but it still feels somewhat strained due to Lucien’s stubbornness. He knows what his mom does is to make ends meet, but he can’t help but hate that she is in that line of work. 

Lucien has a dream in life and that’s to get his degree and become an astronomer. However, due to a lack of funds, he isn’t able to go to university to study astronomy. Even with the help of scholarships, he isn’t able to afford it. Having such a clear dream that is so unattainable to him kills Lucien on the inside. He knows these were just the cards life dealt him, but he can’t help but feel a little bitter.

Lucien and his mother Deborah's relationship is a bit strained, and Lucien resents his mother a bit. Deborah didn’t really raise Lucien much and left him to be outside for many nights while he was growing up. Lucien is restful of this because he was always alone and he never felt the proper love and care he should get for a mother. He had to do everything himself since he was three. He was left outside most nights because of his mother having a client over. Lucien also hates the job his mother works due to the fact that… it’s his mother, but also since he’s asexual. Lucien feels very uncomfortable with sexual acts or references to them. And considering that’s what his mother’s job is, he certainly hates it. But that isn’t the only reason. He knows the job is extremely dangerous. Even though Lucien is angry at his mom for not raising him and leaving him on his own, he does love and care for her more than anyone else. She is his only family after all. He gets really annoyed when he has to do things for his mother and take care of her, but he will always do so because he wants to make sure she’s okay and that she doesn’t get stressed out too much. As much as she gets on his nerves, Lucien loves his mother to death and doesn’t want to allow anything terrible happen to her.

Personality: Lucien is a mature young man. He is incredibly calm and collected, and in groups he tends to be the one to stay level headed. He has a refined and serious air to him, one that doesn’t really tolerate immature antics very well. Lucien tries to be eloquent in his speech, speaking in a slightly formal tone. He is very prude, hating dirty jokes or immature acts. While he isn’t one to snap, he can become very annoyed easily. He can be a bit irritable, and this really stems from his high maturity and lack of sleep. Lucien is very much a night owl, and he tends to be more awake at night. He stays up on most nights in order to stargaze or research. He is really into space and astronomy, being extremely passionate about the topics. When it comes to space and stars, Lucien is so full of wonder at it. To him, it’s fascinating that space is endless and he’s interested in the science aspect of astronomy as well. He has a child-like wonder when it comes to outer space and stars. Lucien sees it as a mystical and almost unrealistic land of wonder, but one that is very real and based so much in science. He finds it almost frightening, but so intriguing at just how endless space seems to be. He is very intelligent. Lucien spends a lot of his waking hours studying and researching, which is what makes him so tired most of the time.

Due to his horrible sleep schedule, Lucien tends to be quite drowsy and tired during the day. This causes him to not be completely alert, and he may accidentally snooze off every now and again. He is a bit lazy when he is tired, which can make him somewhat unreliable. However, if in a pinch, or he realizes he’s in danger, Lucien will try his best to fight through the drowsiness to put in work. He isn’t someone who is just going to lay down and accept defeat. While he is very pessimistic, and tends to immediately go towards the worst case scenario, Lucien will try to put in the work in order to help himself or his peers. He tries to keep his expectations in check so he wasn't disappointed, but that doesn’t mean he won’t try. Lucien isn’t a doormat, and he won’t be treated as such. He will call things that aren’t fair out, and he won’t let people walk over him even if he seems like he could be an easy target. He's no dummy, and he tries to make sure that he won’t get taken advantage of even if he’s always sleepy. 

When Lucien isn’t drowsy, he is actually incredibly focused and a hard worker. It’s just that seeing him at his best like that is rare considering how often he is tired. Lucien can be very capable and dedicated. He is quite wise and clever. He’s knowledgeable and has some sage wisdom behind his few years. Lucien practically raised himself, and so he’s learned to become entirely self-sufficient. He isn’t one to really rely on other people and he tends to be very independent. This also stems from him not really being super trustful of others. Lucien is very cynical and tends to keep people at arms length at first. But if someone manages to break down his walls, Lucien is a very loyal person to them. Normally, he’s just trying to look out for himself. He’s not a bad guy and he won’t go out of his way to sabotage someone else. However, if it comes down to him or someone else, Lucien is going to look after himself first and foremost. It’s part of the reason he’s distrustful of others. He believes other people have that same mindset.

Lucien is an incredibly logical thinker. He rarely thinks with his emotions, and tries to go about things in the most efficient way that he can manage. Lucien is constantly trying to plan ahead, and rarely ever wings something. He is very rational, and he tries his best to go about things the way he believes is best. He tries to be critical of situations, not to be rude, but rather in order to try and plan out logical solutions. Lucien can come off as very aloof and distant. But it stems from the fact that he is constantly in his head and always thinking, analyzing, and planning. Between that, his maturity and prude nature, as well as his more pessimistic attitude, he can come off as quite moody and gloomy. He is someone who is very up-front and honest with his feelings, while usually tends to skew towards the negative. Lucien prefers the quiet, mostly because when it’s quiet he is able to concentrate easier and he is able to sleep better. He practically lives off of coffee, and can be a bit cranky when he isn’t able to drink a cup in the morning.
